Hendra is not too far from Newmarket...

Mercury were advertising some special on 100k skyline servicing recently on facebook...

Its probablly the closest to you that has a good rep & very involved in the scene...

otherwise the rest of the good shops are on the southside...

Southside guy... My 100km service here

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/377777-good-mechanic-south-side-just-got-my-100km-done/page__p__6024241#entry6024241

Always take my 34 here. He also imports and does quite a few import work but isn't really big named here on SAU.

I got quoted 1600-1800 for same job at a few other known places here on SAU

+1 for ERD

[email protected] is the email addy.

+ 526 for ERD.

Currently rebuilding my engine :)

Dan is awesome to deal with, doesn't bullshit you and doesn't rip you off.

You get that you pay for and you can trust it.

I have been to 4 different shops 1 apparently "big" in the scene. All I got was trouble.

I split my work up between

ERD for Mechanical

EFI for Tuning.

imo dont go to mercury..

For every 100 happy customers there generally a few unhappy ones...

That goes for any business...

Mercury have been up and down over the years, they even f**ked over the club once...

but thats all in the past... the entire staff has changes over in the past 2-3 years...

I was just advising on whats close by as per the 'OP'

I was thinking GT Auto also, but feared the quote price so didnt mention them...

As for $1600 @ Mercury... Go fish...

If it were me id DIY, but then if you've never done one before than dont try...

Dan (ERD) will be the fairest on price i think, he is southside tho which is why i didnt mention him...

I assume you wanta drop off the car local, then cab it to work and come back for it same day or next day?

True - i just felt as though i gave them money and didnt get much in return such as customer service / quality of the work done.

I didnt want to post up exactly what happened, i wish mercury all the best for the future, but i certainly wont go back..

Yeah i understand... i felt the same way about a few others who are no longer in business (which is good)...

i just did my 100,000K service at ERD (R34 GTR)

and i can safely say it a less than $1600... lot less....

i did get the SAU QLD Club discount

Give Dan a ring

my 100K at ERD

- Gates racing belt kit

- idler bearing

- 10W40 oil "Dan asked me type of oil from range all synthetic stuff

- Water pump

- he also did a compression check and vehicle inspection

Edit - forgot also did all the diff, break and other oils as this was first major service since i imported it from jap land.

Wow - this forum is fantastic... everyone is so helpful and comes through with quality information...

My R33 GTS-T has had its 200K service done but just needs a minor service and I want a few things checked over to make sure she's 100%... Gonna give ERD a call today because they seem to have a good rep... And thanks to Goodwin for asking my question 2 days ago lol...

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
