Andrew, I'd def challenge a 61 or 62 in a 60 zone.................no speedo is that accurate so I wouldn't pay and just opt for conviction

Too late once you've paid cause they deem it as an acceptance of liability

^^^ Nope, no leg to stand on. As part of Victorias Certificate of Roadworthiness you can get your speedo checked/calibrated for free. And in this age of GPSs and smart phoines, to argue that you were speeding cos you didn't know any better is a cop out. Even more so when they have speed check signs all over Melbourne.

Don't get me wrong, I cruise around Adelaide all day every day doing 65km/hish and love how lax the enforcement is here. But in Vic I ALWAYS stayed below the speed limit.

I still doubt that they could argue calibration of 1km..........considering a tyre 50% worn at 100kph would indicate a different speed (as small as it may be) to a brand new one on the same calibrated vehicle

The tolerance for reading an analogue gauge is +/- half the smallest increment, so if you have 10km/h marks on your spedo the reading error is 5km/h, and you can get number of books or 'expert's to state that is the case.
