updating read status

What's the timelimit for read status updating? I know occasionally if there's a long thread to read that when I return back to browsing, all threads are marked read.

Is there any way to change this, or manually mark thread/sections read?

same for me. I'll try elaborate.

EG: i click the Vic section.

read a long thread... ie, takes maybe 10-20 mins to read as a few long posts on one page.

Then you click on the Vic section again (sometimes after posting other times not)

And all the threads in there have been marked as 'READ' when i've only clicked on one thread.

it happens in every section too.

and some thing affects search for "new posts" since last visit....if you wait too long between visiting and starting the search it only returns posts from the last few minutes instead of since ur last visit
