If you share that 3.5" exhaust between the 2 GTX63s it is only 1.75" diameter exhaust for each 440hp turbo!

That's a huge ask from 1.75"

That Z32 shows its doable just open up the inlet and exhaust more and if it doesn't work then I'll right them off.

But for now there my 600 wheel horsepower turbo of choice

Front housing machining has been done on my GTX2860's, picked them up from MTQ this morning.

I'm about to do a multi week roadtrip down to Victoria, so they won't be going in for a little while. I'm hoping maybe January. I need to sort out a few things first, like fuel system and exhaust. No point putting them in if something else is holding them back.

Gorgeous wheels pete, how much power are you aiming for?

E85?

Just spin them as hard as you can too..

I've been held up by my machinist he hasn't given me my head back yet so I'm able to delay my turbo choice.

As above, they're -5 housings so .64 ar I believe.

And yes, e85 of course!

Power wise, that's to be determined by my work outlook. Worst case I suppose would be standard engine with arp headstuds. Id still throw a heap of boost in but may be limited

Nothing wrong with the standard bottom end, as you said just wack a set of ARP2000 studs and also maybe some drop in cams and away you go!

One for you pete, GTX2860's custom high mounts on a std 2.6L pulled 373 rwkw on only 17psi using stock ported comp covers and says .73 turbine housings??

Definitely different

Does any body know if a -9 rear housing will work with the gtx cartridge? Wheels are the same diameter just a different trim, 76 vs 62. As i have -9's now was wondering if i just got the machining done and swaped out the cartridges.

edit: Looks like the -9 rear exducer is 34mm while the -5 is 41mm so I'm guessing no, only other question is will a gtx2860 front compressor fit on a 2859r cartridge?

    • I thought about ditching it but I was worried my bonnet would sound like a 90's Swift GTi sub-filled boot.
    • Have you found that you have to tighten your alternator belt once in a while? Mine has started to squeal again after the mechanic tightened it roughly a year ago and the engine starts up slow if I don't start it every day (think the starter motor is going out). It used to be if I don't drive it once a week I'd get a quick squeal on the belt but now it's every day or every other day. I might make a post of the start up sound.
    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
