SimonR32
how did I know that video was what was in the link. old tech twins vs new tech billet single should have used a GT3582 from an XR6 turbo. that would have been a better comparison since the compressor wheels are all of similar design and the only variable would have been twin vs single. What if he had used newer gtx2863 vs older gt3582 single? I posted this in the comments of the video but I'm still awaiting a reply It doesn't matter if it's new or old tech, my old T4 divided T04Z set up shat all over low mounts and people think they were designed the same age as a dinosaur! Roy
I don't care if twins or singles or semantics of the debate as there are loads of variables.... But one very good point is I would love to see the singles performance with the gate plumbed back so it's at least attempting to be a street able road car.My experience, albeit at ~300rwkws and 80mm exhaust is it makes a huge difference to power, response and ignition the tune can take when switching external gate to plumb back...as an observation the quality of the front pipes seem to have a decent impact on twins too. That said...if there was a reasonable process to getting a single thru roadworthy i would stick with a single every time....just for convenience and simplicity when banging around on track 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/page/31/#findComment-7570301 Share on other sites
SimonR32
put your graph up then. tell me what twins you shat on.The graph and others have been posted on this forum for the last 10 or so years. Dash 5s are the easiest to compare the 7s and 9s are slightly more responsive but made 200HP less I don't care if twins or singles or semantics of the debate as there are loads of variables.... mr skidz
that graph doesn't really say what support mods are used and boost there running so impossible to use as reference and that TO4z looks terrible coming on at 5000rpm! mr skidz
looks laggy as shit, looks like a hill climb event. nothing until 120 130kph so let's be honest they shat on nothing that's not your car or turbo & it was probably stroked. let's leave this thread for its intended purpose which was GTX related Edited July 21, 2015 by mr skidz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/page/31/#findComment-7570795 Share on other sites

Please... no RB26 makes good power before 4000rpm and people like to post graphs that start at 4000rpm to make them look fatter That's also 4th gear, if I short changed from 3rd to 4th at 6200rpm it would still be making 420rwhp which is more than the max power -7/-9 would make on the same fuel. Not my car? Really? Stroked? Really? Here is my sale thread for when I sold it, also you might notice the "Genuine R33 GTR Crank" http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/206647-r32-gtr-430rwkw575rwhp-immaculate/ Edited July 21, 2015 by SimonR32 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/page/31/#findComment-7570928 Share on other sites

SiR_RB
I love a good twins vs single discussion From my experience a modern single turbo is the way to go for response and power Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/page/31/#findComment-7570974 Share on other sites

jangles
Surely he is trolling. Ask's for your graphs.... Says they are shit, but then still claims it's not your car and must be a different turbo and stroked - suggesting it's good. All in the one post. The Mafia
FFS this is a thread about GTX twins. Not some dinosaur T04Z. Wow, steep curve. Not a single f**king torque curve to be seen. Probably don't even know what "area under the curve" means. It means a usable powerband. Not some dyno queen looking graph. GTFO, I'm sick of reading this shit. I want to know about GTX twins. I like my engine bay to look stock. And it still does.To the others - When $$$ permits, I'm considering GTX2860s in stock compressor covers and 0.63 rears. I want something more responsive than my -5s. I'm getting 23psi at 4800rpm in 3rd and I want it to be at least 600rpm earlier. I would prefer 20psi by 4,000rpm. Would bring the torque up earlier and hold it with the GTX compressors better efficiency at higher boost levels.(I use the car for the type of track that has corners..) The second graph has a nice fat torque curve for you to see. The car makes the same power down low (if not more than low mounts), it just looks "dyno queen" because it makes so much more top end. You want some GTX twin results, here is a GTX2863 result on a 2.8L and here is it getting matched down low and then losing up top to a stock bottom end 2.6L As for the track that has corners? You mean where single turbo set ups dominate? I'd love to see some videos of you at the track Edited July 22, 2015 by SimonR32 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/page/31/#findComment-7571171 Share on other sites

The Mafia
I'm shit at the track. But looking at that - it goes from nothing to 700nm within 1000rpm, and then it falls away 2,500rpm later. It has a 2,500rpm usable powerband? How is that useful? And having power go from nothing to everything within 1000rpm is definitely useless. How about a powerband that is 4,000rpm to 5,000rpm wide? More logical one would think....You also seem like one of those people that thinks that if you have a high power number, you're an awesome driver? Nope. That dyno is the shittest I have ever seen for track use. Single vs twin... who gives a f**k, as long as there is a usable powerband.
