New Garrett Gtx2860R / 2863R / 2867R

Gav

Recommended Posts

Seeing that all te intake piping needs to be changed, have you had a quote for that Gav?

No not yet - there are a few ways to skin the cat on this one. Given that the new GTX terbs have a 3" inlet (much larger than the 2" GT versions), I am thinking of new 3" piping from the pods to the compressor inlet.

where are you guys getting rear housings for dash 5s? I've been looking for some forever. new, used, whatever...

Perth Garrett dealer tells me Garrett have 13 in stock (I assume he means Garrett Australia?). Anyway, part number is 430609-230 and retail inc GST is just shy of $400 per unit.

They have too much flex so it's so much easier for them to pop off. I've also had then weaken due to heat and split :(

+1

They can also catch fire... Or at least heat to the point they harden and crack.

I had 3 90 degree bends do that, usually around 2,000kms they would last (this was on the 31 years ago).

Gotta have a steel 90degree bends if you can when close to manifolds/heat.

    • I thought an engine that needs more ignition timing to make power is going to result in less power due to reduced knock margin? More time for the combustion to propagate -> more time for it to heat up the rest of the mix to detonation.

    • FWIW, the Sutton Road facility is a good one, they have a wet kidney skidpan and a dry area as well as the back track....the club hired it a few times back in the day The clover and wet pans at Eastern Creek are the only ones I still know of in Sydney, that place is always expensive but different clubs would run different prices/formats There used to be a place called HART at St Ives, not sure if that still exists. We used to hire the runway at the tafe at schofields for dry motorkhana, not sure if anyone still does that. And of course that lovely one at Oran Park that is now a housing estate....

    • So, I did a skid pan last Friday at SMSP which I totally sucked at. I'd like to get better at this but it was $350 and I probably got about 20 mins on the pan over the 4 hours I was there which is just not a great ROI.  I don't have a LSD in the car yet, that will happen before I go again. I was struggling to get the car to be consistent and I think it was the open diff. I also struggled to maintain any control at all once it did step out. More practice needed.  I found this one but it's a good 7hrs round trip for me. https://www.fifthgear.com.au/course/advanced-skidpan-training Are there any others that people have been to around Sydney?
