So you can have a look at the engine without having to open the doors (when the cars are parked right next to each other leading to dents ) I would guess.

I was about to link that site. Guy who made it really knows his cars, I love his Cedric.

On a slight tangent, my favorite Datsun of the 60's would have to be the Silvia's though. Such a nice looking car.
