Yeah it sounds the same as mine, no vents over the engine, our work to lower the air pressure behind the radiator thus maximizing the radiator, oil cooler and intercooler.

Not sure how the Z tune do this with the vents being so far rearward and being in the high pressure zone of the bonnet, do you have any flow graphs on how they work ?

Mine has lowered the under bonnet temps considerably, I've got a highmount TO4Z which was heating up the bonnet so much you could cook a egg on it, it was much better after fitting the Blits bonnet, you could put your hand there no problems.

not concerned about flow or pressure, i just want to hear peoples experience with z tune bonnets and water in the engine bay, no offence to the people who have already posted but have clearly stated that i only want to know what has happened with your z tune bonnet not some other brand of bonnet that is not even the same design.

so again people with Z TUNE style bonnets please share your real world experience with me

There was someone on SAU with a genuine CF nismo bonnet, the thread showed photos, Im sure it was about vented bonnets and rain...

it showed the water channels that nismo had built into it to stop the water issue, evo bonnets to a similar thing...

see in the vent it was a upturned lip, that is the water channel that takes the water away, so if your stopped in the rain the water runs down into the vent and gets channeled away in the bonnet to side of the engine bay..

the re-enforcement under the vent actually guides most of the water to the front, and out the drain holes. the vent is between t/c and rad and definately lowered temps. and yes i know z tune have nothing under. i saw c/f bonnets somewhere once that had the vents like the blits but cant remember where. if u are worried about rain on a hot motor then get a bonnet with vents placed accordingly.

baahaha, so what - when it rains pull over to the side and put the blocking plate on ? and how are the channels going to stop the water getting in at an angle ? if the car is a daily get an appropriate bonnet or leave it stock, simple.

Guys please, as requested please only comment if you have or have used a ztune bonnet.

Unless u have real world experience I don't realy care what you have to say, sorry but it's plain n simple, I want to find out from the guys who have experience with this style bonnet

nissan seems to think on that their z-tune bonnet is fine to have bonnet vents on and they handled the rain issue..

wish I could have one but they are for r34 and over $3500 AUD

Cosmetics sell cars, it doesn't have to function or even work well, if it looks fast people will buy it, Nissan are smart, just like a lot of the aftermarket suppliers.

And I have been speaking from experience, have a look under the bonnet of a WRX, the alloy corrosion, the moisture getting in the electrical joints, its a PITA, but feel free to disregard this as it seems you want one, if you don't take it out when its raining you will be fine, it would be good for letting out heat when your stopped in traffic though.

do you have any issues with rain entering your engine bay through the bonnet vents, from what Ive seen the nismo vented bonnets are extremely well made in regards to water redirection from vents

I've got a genuine Nismo R-Tune bonnet (the bonnets were made for the R-Tune before the Z-Tune was built)

need me to take pics of anything in particular?

can u post up some pics of the underside of the bonnet, looking through the vents from the top of the bonnet and any other angles u think might be relevant. just wana get some ideas on what i could possibly make to sort out any issues i may have

I have had three vented bonnets since owning my GTR two of which have been z tune style.

The first Z tune style one was a brought here locally in Australia for relatively "cheap" and the quality reflected the price in my opinion. Had it test fitted to the car in the panel beaters in preperation for painting and over night it rained as it does here in north QLD. Well that was the end of that bonnet the whole engine was wet not happy. I do admit

It did come with a cover that goes over the vents when it

Rains but I'm not keen on that idea. As the rain just pools up in the cover and when its on it defeats the whole purpose of having a vented bonnet. So home I go to order the Nismo R Tune bonnet.

It turned up a month or so later and as stated above the build quality is unbelievable. It has the rain channels built into the bottom skin, practically no water gets into the bay unless you directly point the hose in there when washing. I've had some quite tropical days here and never had an issue with water in the engine bay with the nismo bonnet. But the again you do get what you pay for I guess.

simple make a alloy plate the goes over the 2 rear vents and only have the front one exposed. Even angle the plate so it allows the water to run to the front of the motor between the timing cover/ radiator. hope this makes sense.
