Hey guys and gals, I have just purchased two sets of speakers for my 32gtr: Pioneer ts-d1602r 2ways 6.5 inch in the back and pioneer ts-c171prs splits 6.5 inch in the front. Now, I'm not a huge stereo guy and just want good sound and clarity. I don't need somethin that is going to set off alarms :-). So my first question is will these speakers do the job, or do I also need a small sub? Second question is would it be worth my while to get an amp to run these speakers on there own? I'm keeping in mind weight. Thanks.

Weight? of an amp? For real??? Have you seen the size of some of the blokes out there ripping it up? alot of people over 100kg and here I am at 65kg... I could theoretically get a 35kg sound system... Sound deadened and all, and be on par with a big bloke that stripped his soundproofing out!

Note... I said theoretically

Hmmmm not really a help... I wast talking about setting up a sub and amp when I was talking about weight... I'm happy for you being 65kg, but I am 6'4 and 110kg so iyour weight has no relevance to my needs... All I am asking is would it be a big improvement to the speakers to run an amp to them or should I just run them off the hard unit?

even a 99 dollar crap amp sounds better then any deck power, end story

as long as the amp isnt full of hiss because the SN ratio is horrible. but most modern amps are fine. and will improve the sound of even factory speakers dramaticly

and adding a sub is leaps and bounds better, even a small one

if your building a race car then weight is a issue a street car, not so much. you can only drive the ghey slow speeds legally anyhow. sadalaide is trying to put the city speeds to 40kph , might as well ride a pushy

oh you can't because street racers, ute, cab, bus, 4x4, will run you over in the bike lane

If the car is going to mostly be a track car, then there really is no point in putting a sub in since you will most likely take it out when you take your car out onto the track.

Just get an amp so that the speakers sound better and be happy with it.

mostly tracked I'd put a ipod in the sun visor and no deck, or speakers. and stop eating fast food .... track cars belong on the track not hybrid hoon cars for the road
