It is good to get dyno measurements to backup the claims.. it is probably a mod I will look at doing down the track if I can get one for the right price, I am guessing the factory engine cover still fits with the 5/16 spacer?. I'm not really convinced on the z-tube yet.. I have read mixed reports.. and personaly experience tells me not to bother with drop in replacement air filters (K&N), unless you just like the convenience of a clean and reuse, rather than replace.

Yes factory engine cover fits with 5/16 spacer and also some brands of front strut brace. More significantly for me though the 5/16 offers greater gains across whole rev band and doesnt focus on the top end as in the 1/2 inch model.

Greg as you live in N Qld you really will also benefit from the thermal insulating effect on the top plenum which cuts heat soak and keeps power levels up even on warmer days. This I have found to be significant.

I am also sceptical about the Z tubes. Did a lot of research into them years ago and am not convinced that nissan arent being really clever in air flow and harmonics when designing the air box and tubes we have as std. Sure the z tube changes the induction sound if that is what you want. But may not do much else unless you are only using the top half of your rev band in racing etc.

K & N air filters are good and I have one simply because of convenience to frequently clean and reuse. But you have to be soooo careful not to overoil and stuff up your AFM. I use an AFM cleaner each time I clean the filter and re oil. Certainly safer to just use a new paper filter cartridge.
