Hey guys i own a r32 gtr 93 model and im having issues with my car.

Il state the mods to help you guys with answers.

Full exhaust system 3 inch

Apexi pod filters

Nismo afm's

Sard 700 cc injectors

Bosch 040 pump

Hks 2530 turbos

Greddy boost controller 15 psi boost

Power fc ecu tuned

Splitfire coilpacks

Iriway 7 spark plugs

The coilpacks were purchased second hand of a member on the forum about 7 months ago, they were fine till the last couple of days as to my knowledge. Now as i drive normal everything is sweet but as soon as it gets past about 4000rpm it missfires then it drops a cylinder and sounds like a wrx. Im guessing its the coilpacks that are efffd, but my car isnt that heavily moded to fail a splitfire coilpack (280 kw at all fours).

Am i right to lean towards faulty coilpacks? Or is it not possible for them to die so easily?

Thanks in advance

Sorry don't know the exact name for it but could be the brain that the coil packs are all connected to as well? It kinda dies in the ass sometimes due to heat, but it quite possibly could be the packs themselves. Try another set.

The coils sound dead but try the resitor first it's the silver and black box that sits on top of the coil pack cover. I have coil packs and a resistor you can try to find out the problem I'm on the coast where in syd you live?

The "resistor" box is not a resistor. It's the ignitor. R32 (RB20 and RB26) and S1 R33 RB25 use the same igniter and coils. S2 RB25 coils are not compatible with the earlier ones.

Because all your ignition gear is relatively new, it would be strange (but possible) for something in there to have died. I'd also suspect that one of the injectors might have an issue, so if you get desperate get them tested too.

And then there's the CAS.

cheers

i have this same problem i hav new coilpacks and aftermarket ems ignitors and the ems ecu. i hav replaced all these and havent fixed it. i actually burnt out the coil on #3 cyl. i am having the ignitor and coilpack harness replaced to try and fix the problem.

Turned out my ignitor was gone. No issues after replacing with another.

Cheers for the help guys!

Interesting. My brother-in-law was recently handballed a Legnum wagon that no-one else could make work. He worked out that the ignitor was stuffed......but a new one didn't help. Then they found that the ECU was torched. It had had coolant in it at some earlier stage when a heater hose had died. When the ECU went, it took out the ignitor. Sounds like you might have suffered something similar (ie, ECU killing the ignitor).
