bahh!!!!!!!!!! 350 at rears on 1.3 bar!!!!!!!!!!!

u would hate to get a bad batch of that 98 RON stuff.. goodbye engine!!!

anyone know where to get tolulene in decent quantity's and wether u need a licence to store it???

i know its not good to run in your car all the time, but good to have if u are going to the track or the strip.

Would you mind me asking what you do as a profession? cos for a young bloke, u seem to have had some pretty serious cars already.

Nar i live in sandy bay car is making 350kw at the wheels at 1.3 bar for the street but can wind it up to 1.7bar so it can make a bit more. yeah fuel does cost me quite a bit.

As Tim the toolman would say; Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!

Tim, Toluene is available at moto sport in newstead. They make it up to your specs and the price isnt too bad either. Love the stuff. 5 Litres every third or fourth tank does wonders

The gain in octane is up to you. If you tell them you want it to go from 95 to 98 then they'll make a suitable solution up for you. Just be careful with the stuff though, only use it in a well ventilated area as it causes cancer, it melts everything, so try not to spill any (I did once and half my shoe was left melted to the ground.) and never go over 1 litre per every 10 of fuel, put to much in and it will do more harm than good. But do it properly and you'll love it.

Whats Toluene do? I though it was just a crappy by-product of crude oil. Found this info below on toluene.

Too much toluene may breach Australian standards

(Archived)

Excessive amounts of toluene could mean that the octane performance of fuel used in cars may not comply with Australian standards in this area, according to Standards Australia.

Standards Australia was commenting on allegations regarding a “petrol substitution racket” in Sydney, in which petrol is allegedly being diluted with toluene to increase profit margins.

Octane performance is covered by an Australian standard, which requires that various grades of petrol meet specified octane ratings. The Australian Standard- AS 1876 of 1990 “ Petrol (Gasoline) for Motor Vehicles”- also sets out requirements relating to contaminants such as lead and sulphur content.

The octane rating controls the “anti-knock” performance of car engines. If the octane rating is too low, the engine will “knock” and this will affect both its performance and increase the prospect of engine damage.

The “knock” is the “pinging” sound which older cars would make when petrol with too low an octane rating was used.

The voluntary standard was developed by interested industry, consumer and government organisations such as the Australian Automobile Association, the Australian Institute of Petroleum, the Federal Department of Transport and the then State Pollution Control Commission.

Compliance with the standard would generally be the responsibility of the organisation who supplies the fuel to the service station. However, service station proprietors also have a prime role in ensuring proper storage and freedom from contamination.

The thing to remember with it is that you can mix up solutions of toluene to have your desired effect. It could be weak as heel or extremely potent. just depends how its mixed up for you in the first place.

Moto sport is on killa faddy (spelling?) road next to store it safe and that.

I use to run toulene in my gtir and it worked well. I use to get it from bp at selfs point in 20L drums

I use to get pure toulene so i use to run 4L of toulene to 20L of fuel. Never had a problem.

    • MR HAMMER has said his piece. Painted up to avoid Rusty Rusty. Actually lines up well. (i.e it lines up the same as the unmolested GTR guard). Turns out the GTR Strut brace does foul on the bonnet vents ever so slightly. May need a little bendy bendy if intended to keep using with a strut brace. So spacing it out to clear the FAST102 is not an option. Annoyingly, the bonnet vents also foul on the heater lines running over the engine. Given this engine does not EVER require a heater, a delete loop is going to be used. Don't worry, the defogger uses the AC. The heater is basically "Do not use the aircon and turn the fan on". It will still be effective, I promise.... once I get the system regassed... Will have to revisit with unvented bonnet I suppose, and suitable strut brace. There's plans to do this and other things tonight and bleed brakes (there was a weep) and put the bumper back on, and take Good Friday morning - Because troubleshooting on the side of the road limping it home at midnight tonight is ... not very smart.
    • Thank you all for you assistance. I contacted Nistune regarding the support for the RB20DE along with my ECU Code (23710-10U00). They do have a map for it and added the RB20DE as a purchasable option now as well. They also added Malta as a Billing and Delivery options as this was missing. I was honestly amazed at their quick response and action, it took less than 24 hours. I also looked again at direct fit options for injectors, just in case I were to replace them. DeatschWerks seem to use a Bosch EV14 base and makes ones that fit mine at 440cc lowest, but also have 550cc at the same price. I tried looking for other direct fit options and managed to find one (also Bosch EV14 based) which includes a plug and play adapter on ebay. Did a small test with a Noid Light on the troubled injectors and all seems good, so they are pulsing properly electrically. One weird part is that they are missing on the same two cylinders as before I got the injectors cleaned. Mechanic also found this weird as he did not label the injectors and it is unlikely to have the faulty injectors be installed in the same cylinders.
    • Nice, let me know how you find the 98 tune
    • Put a hand on an injector and see if that's what the buzzing is. You might be triggering the injectors by moving off idle command.
