hey guys, ive been contemplating this for a while ive just never got around to actully posting up a question.

Anyway, ive been offered a ct26 turbo and a new rebuild kit off a gt4 celica for free from a family member. after a quick search on here i didnt really find anything about an rb25 application (only rb20).

so i was wondering, can this turbo be used effectivly on am rb25 if a long morot was purchased and what power figuers is this turbo capable of? :)

Don't. The CT26 from the 3SG is too small. The one from a 1JZ is better suited, but hardly worth the effort to fit it up. Having to buy a long motor, deal with manifolding and plumbing and piping and all the other horror just to use a free turbo, makes the freeness of the turbo completely irrelevant.

ye there is...

2nd hand gcg highflow, fmic and nistune will see you to ~230rwkw in a 25 for 2k

fmic $500

2nd hand gcg hiflow $1000

nistune supply, install & tune $1000

= $2500

dont forget the new gaskets and any studs that may break during installation.

would need at least $3500 minimum for 250rwkw range.

he will need turbo back exhaust, fuel pump, injectors and Z32 afm to maximise the highflow.

you will spend more on supporting parts to actually have the CT26 fit. wrong flange patterns and all the rest.

you could simply send your stock turbo to hypergear and have it sent back for $960 with everything you need to bolt it straight back on with minimal fuss.

you will then need the suggested FMIC, TBE and a fuel pump as minimum before you go get it tuned. At minimum you are looking at about $800 for a china spec exhaust that will probably be extremely loud. $500 on a china FMIC kit then the suggested $1000 on a nistune (these are ROCK BOTTOM prices and you will probably pay more) and $200 on a fuel pump

you will need to install these yourself to meet these prices

Then you will be limited to 220rwkw by your stock injectors and stock afm, add another 1000 atleast to purchasing these and you will be able to chase 240kw.

If you want more you can get a different option from hypergear which can cost up to about 1550, and go a lot harder. however you will then need to mod more cooler piping and a new intake pipe, budget another $500 for this.

Your call, weve covered this sort of thing over and over.

second hand highflow's go for as little as $800 and a second hand fmic kit will be ~200

nistune shuold be less than 1k

however you are correct, he will need an exhaust, as well as a clutch

injectors, afm and fuel pump can be purchased at a later date if he wants

<br />isnt that what they use on the TT soarers?! They are pretty small.<br />
<br /><br /><br />

No. Those are CT12s - like a smallish t25 size, almost T2. The Toyos also use CT20s, which are like a T28/T3 at the lower end of the Nissan Hitachi sizing and the CT26 which is like the upper end of the Nissan Hitachis. Sort of.

I had a Gt4 celica and had the CT26 highflowed by precision turbos apparently it had a TO4Z compressor wheel fitted and 360 degree thrust bearing and was told it would flow 400hp

But dont use it on an RB as all the boys said sell up buy a turbo car that somebody else has pumped all their coin into for sweet F A

Toyota Surf turbo, eww.

Sorry for off topic but

Toyota surf is actually a ct20b. The ct26 was fitted to 3sgte and 7mgte. So the ct26 isn't a bad option if it's the one from a supra/soarer. Might be slightly laggier then stock but yer.

    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
    • To be fair - you see the same thing for every clutch. There's always someone making an installation error.
    • Just saw this, redacted names. It's on a R33 GTS-t Facebook group. Looks like still teething issues.
