I wish people would just see through the fact that GTR's don't drive like they're on rails. People need to drive one before they comment. Every car has it's own handling characteristics.

take note of how every person over the age of 22 who owns a GTR, is saying if they had a GTR at 17 they would have killed themselves........i'd take that pretty seriously.........

GTR is a safe car to drive, you are just as likely to smear yourself in a gts-t as a gtr.

Insurance WILL rape you, and I can guarentee your looking at alot of $$s to insure at that age.

Of course any 17 year old will say 'I don't have a lead foot, it's all about the individual, etc etc"....

if these who thinks 17 y.o. with GT-R is not good combination, have you ever driven this car? if so, would you like to tell me what's like to drive GT-R...

i know insurance's pretty scary but, what i'm asking is... you don't know me, you don't know what i'm driving like, etc etc...

ok, stick to the question... i was told by me older brother's friends who is currently considering buying one... he said 3rd party is about $1,500. me bro think it's for R33 or something... but i'll ask if i see him.

i dont see why you shouldnt buy a GT-R as long as you can afford it.. 3rd party is what youd probably be looking at since its a 89 .

drive safe, do some skidpan tests, take it to the drags and circuit racing get the feel of the car and thats it.. you dont have to go on the streets and start racing it around bends etc etc...

i dont see why he shouldnt get one if he is ready to buy one..

put it this way..

if he starts driving it when hes 17 and still has the car till hes say 25.. could you imagin how much experience he would have compared to the others.. aslong hes still allive ...

the reason i'm considering a GT-R because they're going cheap (in japan of course) so, there i am...

youll be rich if you finish your plumbing apprenticeship.. im a bricklayer and getting 250$ per day... its great.. i was once a IT techy and then i quit because it was boiring :| .. hahaha.. anyway i hope you get this car and have good fun it in..

get it.. dont speed on the street.. if you plan not to drive it allot then i think 3rd party is what you want sicne your 17. plumbers are usualy rich after there qualified anyway ..

I enquired for an insurance qoute at Just-Cars for an R33 GT-R.

I am a Rating 1 driver and am almost 22 years old, clean record, no fines or convictions.

It was going to cost me $2200 per year for full comprehensive insurance.

Not bad, but not cheap all the same.

I thought they wouldn't touch me...

i have seen 1500$ for a person whos 25 years old... if you keep this GT-R for long and dont get speeding fines.. youll go down to 1500$ too.

my insurance for my NA 33 was 2600 yearly and a 2800 excess

i'm 19 - clean history, rating 6 though (as you will be)

for a GTR you will be looking at ALLOT more that that ^

i've seen some P platers driving ex cop VL BT1... they even get insured for 300+ Kw at rear wheels... in Vic! so your point being i'm stupid to get GT-R?

yes they have insurance but have you spoken to any of them that have written it off and made a claim? as i stated most insurance companies will insure you, howver the minute they find out you have broken the law when the accident occured they will not cover you and make your full comp insurance useless. you will be breaking the law (in vic anyway) driving any car that has more than the power to wieght ratio values.

so yes by all means get your 1989 gtr or whatever and insure it for full comp for $5000 or so but when you write if off and your insurance checks your licence and the cars factory power output and its wieght and relaise you were breaking the law whilst driving said vehicle they will not insure you or cover your accident, you'll be on your own to pay for it.

in fact should you have a crash in said vehicle and it involves someone else they have the potential to sue you and take you to court as you were breaking law which you would have been aware of and you were potentially putting them at risk because the vehicle you drove was too powerful for your type of license (p plates). who knows what could happen if someone actually died in an accident and you were illegaly driving a car that was involved....

ever spoken to someone who has stolen a car and caused an accident? what happens to them? perhaps you should find out

The car was too powerful based on vic road laws therefore you couldn't control it.

my parents could be driving dangerously but when it comes down to it, 50 year old married vs 17 year old in a car thats too powerful for his licence according to road laws

Hey guys,

I've talked to JCI their rates are good, $710 for 3rd party plus fire and theft for R32 GT-R stock with Exhaust Upgrade, Air Fitler Changes all that... car value $20,000 not bad considering i'm voilating power to weight rule, but, i wasn't planning to use GT-R as me daily driver instead of that, i'd like to use it as weekend racer like club events, skip pan days all this stuff as i have another car to drive...

Just for anyone whos looking for a GTR or even a GTS-t as their first car, ive had my car sinc i was 17 im 20 now, (r33 gts-t) and i drive like a 100 k's everyday. i would consider myself a good driver and fairly well experinced now as well, but its amazing what happens when u have a powerful car how quickly things can go wrong. Just on friday night i was thinking about soemthing while driving on a road i drive everyday and it was a fairly straight road and it was pissing down, put the foot down jus a little, all off a sudden the back of the car went sideways, (something may have been on the road like oil or soemthing, all that shit rise to the top when it rains) stuggled to get control of it.. just missed a light phone, hit the curb and over to the on comming traffic. was very very scary. (and i was only going at like 70,) i still have flashbacks and how everything moves so slowly and u see ur life flash before you. even if your very experinced and alert, with a powerful car like a skylines, things can go wrong very quickly if u dont know what ur doing, i think if i hadnt had the experince to get even a little control of the car when it was spinning out of control, i would have hit a pole or oncomming traffic. I was very lucky to get away with a bent Lower control arm and 2 shredded tyres. Getting my car back on monday and i dont know how i will feel when i turn the key to start it. Just a quick msg to all them hoons (and lets face it there are a lot of them on skylines) All it takes is 100th of a second for soemthing to go horribely wrong. I was lucky. but i know from now on i will be even more carfeul.
