Any update on burgess in the 32? Thought he was aiming for 35's?

Burgo bought khumo V70a tires which on his car let him down substantially. He knew it'd be the case but didn't mind.

The mph down the front straight and entry speeds were higher than those of his 1:37 lap a week ago. Just couldn't get any mid corner grip from those tires

Totally agree. Also i do believe there were also others with aftermarket splitters and so on - definatly need to pay attention to the rule writing. But then you would already know your car is illegal, couldn't have your head that far into the sand surely...

On a lighter note well done to all, some really great times coming out from the SAU guys overall and being very competitive which is a great sign given some of the guys are very privateers that DIY on the weekends and not workshop backed. Very impressive indeed!

Looking forward to the tales and stories from everyone once they return and post up about what sounds like another very solid WTAC!

To early to speculate 2013? :D

I'll add some fuel

Do the organizers care about the rules/car legality?

Or do they only care about what the flat capping teenagers think (being general here)

I also saw that the top 3 cars all ran MCA suspension, anyone confirm?

So well done to them

Flat cap central

Also a lot of ear vaginas getting around( stupid f**k stains with the ear lobe stretching thing)

100 bux to see 20 cars do 3 laps ( fast laps at least)

Will Piss and moan again

Over all slightly better than channel nines coverage of the Olympics ( but thats free)

With the amount of money people are spending on the vehicles in all the classes you'd want to hope they care.

I think the problem lies in the how quickly it has grown, and the organisers seem like they haven't yet caught up with it.

The rules and regs are not clear enough. And with the dedication the entrants are putting into events like this, I think what they need is

an updated rules and regs that state everything as clearly as possible.

I personally believe it's the privateers that drive this sport, and they deserve to at least have a clear understanding of what they can and can't do.

A decidedly different summary, keepin' it real as always

(ps. was it really $100 entry for 2 days? :O)

Also, does scrutineering before the event actually look to see if the car can compete in it's chosen class?

I was one of the scrutineers there and the job was to check saftey and crack down on poorly fitted aero.

Pre-event scruteneering is for safety only, 99% of the time. eligibly checking is done after the event has finished. no point checking 100 cars, when only 10 will be in a position that needs to be checked

The rules are clear :

Vehicle Modifications

All Vehicles must be presented as manufactured unless stated below.

Body

• All convertible type vehicles must be equipped with a hard top or a roll cage that complies with AASA Standing Regulations.

• The use of a Carbon or FRP Bonnet and Rear Wing is permitted.

• The use of an FRP Front Bar, Rear Bar, Side Skirts and Bonnet is permitted.

• Carbon and FRP Guards, Doors, Boot Lids and Roofs are NOT permitted, unless fitted as OEM equipment from the manufacturer.

Nowhere does it state you can have bolt on flares, alloy or carbon rear diffusers, carbon front splitters, carbon canards ect.

For some reason people find this hard to understand or just dont care about the rules, the call from WTA today was if you want to run at the front make sure your car complies with the rules or action will be taken if a protest is lodge and money paid.

I will wait to see what outcome WTA take with the protest before I comment anymore.....

So it's a money making thing?

If someone doesn't have $600 to spare for a protest then tough luck?

How rediculous

yeah makes sense.

However what i don't understand is why a formal protest had to be put in for the organisers to do an eligibilty check.

Did they just want the $600 bucks or what??

There is a bit more to the story waiting to see what happens first…

Love the summary Fatz. Sounds like I didn't miss too much.

Have been the last two years but was undecided whether or not to head down this time.

I was keen to see/hear the cosworth VQ powered GTR which apparently ended up in China so glad I didn't shell out the $1000 odd dollars to make my way down for it this time.

Was the commentary as rubbish this year as previous years?

I was one of the scrutineers there and the job was to check saftey and crack down on poorly fitted aero.

I was a pit lane official there...plenty of poorly fitted aero cars made it out on track that I saw over the 2 days.....????
