R33 Noisey Box

hey all ive done some searching now with my daily r33 its got 104,000km excedy 3 puk clutch

now im gonna replace the clutch soon cause i prefer the feeling of my hhhd cushion button excedy

now when the car is in nuteral no gear selected theres a slight noise from what ive read i think its input shaft bearing as it goes away when i put the clutch in

any idea if its deff that bearing also how hard is it to replace when i change the clutch

is there anyone in melbourne who can slap in a new clutch and possibly the bearings whos cheap that wont cost me a arm anda leg i can help just dont have the space or tools todo it my self

It could be the input shaft bearing, but could just as easily be the clutch throwout bearing. Throwout bearing is trivial to do while changing the clutch. The input shaft bearing is a fair bit more work.

It could also just be gear rollover noise most jap boxes do it

so which one is the throw out bearing i was goin to replace the spigot bush and throw out bearing when i do the clutch and maybe spray some grease on the input shaft

Throwout bearing is the one on the clutch fork; you should get one in your new clutch kit.

yeah i had a new one but i sold it with my old gearbox are they easy to get seperately

FYI the noise was the thrust bearing its gone now
