Engine swap? Many of them came factory with the 1JZ...

those with ma70s are a pain to swap. fuel pump ecu, different engine mounts.

the stuff some guy who bought parts off my soarer for an engine swap told me, made me scared of ma70s.

im loving the old mk3 supra's these days with the ijzgte engine swap.

nice and old school.

anyone know which ones are eligible for importing, what are they worth for a good example and which ones are the the most sought after?

yes, JZA70 = 1JZ

MA71 = 7M-GTE

there is more to swapping than what Alvin said too, subframes are different + 11ty other things!

also, be cool like me and get the "R" model

As for most sought after, that would be the MA71 Turbo "A", 500 made, all black with brown leather etc, bigger turbo, bigger throttle body, tougher bottom end, they were the Group A homoligation model.

as for how much, if you have to ask you can't afford

That's right, I'm thinking Australian delivery ones,

Or did aus delivered ones come with the 1jzgte also?

Might have to rephrase that to a 2jzgte conversion :)

What 86-92 supras are eligable to import to aust and are they expensive?

There are only 9 mk3's for sale they are all 7m motors and 8 of them are autos

Congratulations Kristian on the pristine R32 GTR V-Spec II that has just been picked up by SAUer Chris a few minutes ago!

34,215Km and it's like new!

Full Jap history, no scratches, no sag or wear marks on driver's seat, engine bay looks like new, no seepage, no rust. It's a gem!

I think it is a combination of a few factors;

- exceptional condition (grade 4.5/4) low mileage cars, under 50000 km, with documented history coming up at Auction and

- the increased demand due to the good exchange rate

I think demand usually reduces a bit and then stabilises when the exchange rate reduces to more sustainable levels. I think we are going through that stabilizing phase. The yen has gone from 105 to around 90 in a matter of weeks.

That black 93 GTR would have been around $38k landed and complied. I agree Chris that is very much VSpec money.

I await Chef's comments.

Tony.

Some of it was certainly exchange rate movement, but also it depends on how much shaken a car has left on it - a car with little or no shaken will drop for a far cheaper price than one with plenty left.
