So, decided to make this thread for you NA guys. Come across a quick NA? Want to add your opinion on your/other cars? think honda's are gay? want to compare your car to another P plate rig?? ask/say it here! :P Not really a VS thread per se, more of a guide.

Out of boredom, plus the heat isn't doing me any favours. I want to hear your input too!

Rant:

VL Commodores - Slow, i don't know why P platers bother with modifying with these when they are so slow.

Honda's - Would be my choice for an NA weapon, so much you can do to them and so many parts available it isn't funny.

V6 commodores - Almost every one of these wankers wants to drag, and they are never anything special.

NA Skylines - Never raced or driven one but friends have and they weren't anything quick(sorry guys :P)

NA Supra's - These guys are like the enemy for me, seems to always be a 300ZX vs Supra thing when i see one, they go well though.

Pulsars - Mostly crap driven by lebo's who don't understand that a catback and pod don't add 100kw to the car, i've come across 3 or 4 that go really well.

NA 300ZX's - Not a bad car if you maintain it, auto's are horribly slow though.

As for quick NA's i've come across.

Friend of mine has a N14 SSS with 11:1 compression, Tomei poncams, Full exhaust, intake & Ecu and it goes very well for an NA.

Another mate has an AE92 GTi with a 20v blacktop 4AGE and it is freakin quick for a 1.6L.

A little blue civic going around my area that blew my doors off on a rolling start =(

mazda rx8 is quick doing 0-100kmh in 6.2 sec but they look gaids

yeah, but they lack torque your always rev the crap out them to get any where, needs a third rotor lol. my mates RX8 was annoying to drive around town didn't go anywhere unless you were above 6000. VTEC Honda's are way more fun.

if you want a quick P plate friendly car, go and get the lightest Honda you can, like an 85 two door they only weigh about 800kg and put any descent Honda engine in it. ask GTRsean he had one with a D16 engine absolutely hammered he found for $600 and put about 2000 more in it to get road worthy. did a mid 14 sec quarter mile time. enough to beat an SV6 holden or XR6. lots of fun and very unassuming.

pull your finger out Honda, hurry up an make a vtec V8 already

those of you who have been on here for a while will know what i'm about to say, lol

the missus SSS is pretty decent. 112hp at the wheels with only extractors (they make a big difference) and exhaust. still stock ecu, etc. certainly gives most 6 cylinder natros a good run for their money. faster than most similar aged commodores and falcons and skylines.

3.5L v6 magnas are also good. had one that run a 14.8 at willowbank with just a cat back exhaust and ordinary tyres. the autos are a slug though.

at the other end of the scale, i don't know what the fascination is with lancers. they are ordinary to drive and aren't that quick. they are no different to drive than a corolla, but there more bodykits available.

have to say i agree about the late model falcons i have been chopped many times by late modle falcons and common whores in the traffic light gp lol. anything older than a vs in comonwhores is relativly slow in base model form and same deal for falcons (although they usually get the fully hectic p plate treatment anyway lol)

hondas are the suprise package of the na world cjvics and integras are fast little cars despite all the vtec yo argument lol.

as for ultimate na six cylinder, my money has to be on the te and tf cortinas with 250 crossflows in them, carby inlet extractors sees easy 14's :)

while I'm here (and nothings going on at work lol)as much as i generally disagree with mark the magnas are ok for what they are the 3.5 manual will chop an na skyline. hell my mates auto 3.0 ran a 16.3 I've seen na supras run 16 flat before (black na auto with Rota grids, just incase anyone knows the car lol).

something that hadnt been mentioned yet are the early 12a rx7s how are they in na form?

nissans with the vq35 engine is on the "not legal for p platers" list

Not quite correct. And the thread doesn't specifically say "p plater only"

My Stagea is a VQ35de, not on the banned list. Elgrands aren't on the ban list, and Maximas with the VQ35 motor are ok for p platers too... The V35 was only added later after the 350z was on the list. Not that I care, been a long time since I had provisionals.

The NA rotors i have come across havn't been anything special, but then again all P platers i've come across havn't put up much of a challenge.

Wow, didn't think an NA liner would get the chop from a commo. My NA Z absolutely DESTROYS my mates 15.3 sec VR commodore, kills the new SIDI SV6's without a problem too, rolling starts only add to the embarrassment for them :P

oh ok when i say chopped its usually a run from zip to 80 and I was about drivers side door level when i backed off. this was against a bf ute with a system under it. I've never had any trouble with later model commodores and falcons (in p plate trim of course) generally walk away from them when i hit second lol :).

(word of warning el & ef xr6s can sometimes be very suprising :P)

if you're posting in the NA section you're either a P plater or have stuffed a p plater illegal N/A motor into your skyline lol

but...but... I am none of these things

I got my P plates about a year before the restrictions first came in, good times running around on greens in a GTt, those were the days :bunny:

neither am I, mines not a skyline lol, i was the same with red p plates in a turbo 180sx with a big blow-off valve. can anyone say cop magnet. had cop's do u-turns on 4 line highways sirens blaring for a "random breath test" all stopped when the P plates came off.
