just wondering if the fan coming off the front of the engine is supposed to be always running or whether this means the clutch in the fan is buggered. my car sounds good becuase of the exhaust but has that bus sound to go with if you know what i mean. anyone else got ideas? cheers in advance

Infiltrator is right. More specifically, as far as I'm aware, the fan is "locked" at idle at any temperature. When the engine is cold If you rev it slowly to about 3 - 3500 rpm and hold it you should hear the fan noise die off. If this doesn't happen your fan clutch could be siezed.

Yep it should die off, I know a bloke whos fan clutch shagged on an old Fairlane and would hardly turn at all so he had a go at welding it solid - drove off down the road and sounded like an old warplane getting ready for take off.
