I have both my build plate and my compliance plate removed and issued with a new VIN number with exemption of compliance plate paper work, difference is SA police stuffed up and removed them by accident.

Ring vehicle standard and they will either answer your question or put you onto the people who can, you will probably need to fill in an exemption of compliance plate form and go through regency.

So it's going to be like I have to go back and get the car re-complied type thing??? Hope it's just the sticker or it was just put on the other car so it will be put back, do you think SAPOL will put my stuff back in my car or just wack it all in the boot and I'll have to do it? Hope they don't take too long heaps keen to get it back and on the road again ;)

UPDATE!

Hey guys do just had a call from the cops telling me my car is ready, that is the good news. The bad news is any parts they thought had been taken off from my car and put on this f***ers car they could 'prove' that they are mine so I apparently have no passenger seat, and a handful of other interior parts and no ignition,as for other parts I have no idea but the cop assured me I would be happy :/ anyone had this prob with the parts or anything? I just want my parts back :/

when you get it back, start engraving the vin number onto as many parts as you can, so in future there will be no denying whats yours (or invest in some data dot spray)

Got the car today, covered in thy black sh*t they use for finger prints, missing or needs the following things

Left front indicator

Horn

Battery

Front seats

Floor mats

Ignition

Left mirror

Left sun visor-who takes this??

Gear stick knob

Face of the cd player

Number plates

Compliance plate

Front grill

The interior was f****d wires everywhere, all plastics pulled out was a mess. Over all happy to have the car back to start the process of getting it back to the way it was before

f**k i hate car thieves, they should be punished very harshly when it comes stealing other people's shit and ruining it!

You would have worked very hard for that car i'm sure, then comes along some shit kicker low life scum and takes it from you

Unfortunately no insurance so I'm glad to have the car back, insurance ran out bit over a month before the car was stolen, was stupid not to renew it but with bills and other excuses I didn't and I've obviously learnt from my mistake been told by that many ppl but hey no ones perfect I know I certinally am not, got the car started yesterday runs fine no issues with the engine just need to get some standard parts to get it back through regency to get a new compliance certificate and then new rego etc and insurance, new alarm, new kill switch and a club lock

I got a good alarm installed 2 weeks ago by George on my 34 and also got a club with 'apparent' cover (i.e they pay your excess if it gets stolen with the club lock on - 1 year from the purchase). The same guy wont come back, but who knows the number of skyline theifs walking around.

Glad you got it back mate - I'm sure it will all smooth out. Look 4 or 8 weeks into the future and you will forget the car was even stolen!!

At the end of the day my excess was going to be $3000 if I made a claim on mine (due to age, higher premium, theft cover, under 25 bla bla bla all BS), so you might come out better off in the end.

Thanks mate, did you use a specific polish to get all that finger print stuff off??

They apparently 'detailed' my car when it was repaired after being stolen, and I could still see marks from all the fingerprint dust and other misc scratches from the theft/time in the impound yard/being carted around on the tow truck. It' s really depressing when you give it a wash when you get it back and notice all these new scratches and chips on the bodywork, especially when you've spent so much time maintaining the car... I feel for you mate, but give it a good clay bar and polish and touch up any of the more obvious chips/scratches and hopefully it'll be as good as new.
