I feel ripped off reading this

I thought this was the end result thread lol... Guess we wait 2 more weeks :D

I'm with a few others, not so sure the -9s will hold 28-30psi. They generally always fall over so very keen to see end result

If they dont hold till top end, it will have a big fat meaty midrange  .

i hate to nit pick but 'Eflex' is Caltex's higher % ethanol blend, 70-85

'Flex-fuel' is the ability to run anything from 100% unleaded to 85% (or whatever your highest E%) ethanol. I know you knew what you were referring to, but just to save other people the confusion.

Fantastic to see more people getting in on it though!! More ethanol users the better!! Get on it people!! :D

Ethanol fuels are fantastic for turbos that are maxxed out on 98. On my rb25 with hks gtrs size turbo so ~245rwkw on 98 fuel maxxed out, then I changed to the caltex eflex fuel and made 280rwkw with even more response!

Ethanol fuels work very well on the smaller turbos that appear to be maxxed out on 98. Go for it!

for the people that have done flex fuel setups using decent boost levels

are your 98 or close to maps just done with a lot of timing pulled out or is the boost dependant on ethanol%? assuming any of the ecus support that kind of setup?

boost same, timing varies.

depends how you think of it... i think of it as timing at '0' (rather than negative) for the 98 map, which is then advanced depending on the ethanol %.

different parts of the map obviously vary in how much the timing is advanced but don't worry about the 98 map as i'm assuming that's already been sorted for most people as that's their fuel of choice.

really? i would have thought the boost would be lower if your e85 % is lower...

e.g. if i have 100% 98 then I'd expect to run 22psi or so... anything higher could possibly cause big problems....

will check with the Tuner tomorrow on this....

evc 6 i set at 21psi i think, 98 or E85, it's all the same :)

we believe the pistons are N1's, so not fully forged (not 100% on this, will have to try and confirm with Midori one day...) so i'm never going to run stratospheric boost and i didn't think running Eflex/E85 will help much in that department anyway.

if we were going with variable boost, then that would have to be controlled via the G4 i'm assuming... i don't know if this requires extra hardware/extra Link kit etc...

and even if we could, i don't know if i would run extra boost on Eflex/E85... why? i've got all the extra timing over 98, in the 400rwkw for pure E85, ~650nm of torque... don't see the point of stressing the engine anymore to be honest... it's not like it's underpowered

aaah

your situation is different to mine i guess... i got tiny -9s so I want to cram as much boost through them as I can to make the power lol

I just spoke to Chea and he confirmed that my boost will also vary depending on the ethanol percentage in the tank

Boost, Fuel & Timing will all change accordingly to ethanol %

mine is getting a Haltech boost solenoid so the boost will be controlled by the Haltech ECU too

oookkk bit of a hiccup

gave a hit in 2nd and went for 3rd and the gearbox went BANG!

no more 3rd gear :( box is goooonnneee

anyone in sydney have a GTR box for sale??

if i dont get one by the weekend I'm going to have to push the mods back
