OK...i'm sorry if this post makes no sense as i'm not very mechanically minded :D

A few weeks ago my car was dynoed and made 160RWKW (RB25DET). At the time of the dyno run it was noticed that the timing was a little out and it was suggested that i get this checked out.

So I had it checked the other day and apparantly the cam timing is out by 1/2 a tooth. The guys tried fixing it but it looks like the problem is far worse than first thought.

The service guys tell me that the problem lies with either the bottom sproket or the crank keyway. They think the problem is with the crank keyring and that it'll cost approx $2000+ to fix :)

They told me that this is a common problem with Series 1 R33's. Has anyone had this problem before???

What options do I have???

The mechanic reckons that its dangerous leaving it as it is

If anyone can give me some advice I'd really appreciate it....

THANKS!!!!!

just to try and shed a little light, wiht my very small torch of knowlegde, i beleive the keying problem would be the woodroff (spelling?) key having worked out slightly, and then rolled a bit, letting the crank pulley shift a little out of allignment. dunno about series 1 R33s, but is quite common on middle age Fiat motors (espec. 650-750 series) i must say thoiugh that 2g sounds a bit much for a replacement crank pulley, build up and re-machining of the crank... but i guess quite a bit of labour in completely sripping the bottom end out.

best of luck mate !! nothing worse than having to worry about your baby blowing up...
