Need Help On Replacing The Cylinder Head

Ive recently bought a lil mitstubishi mirage with a cracked head , and am planing to replace the head myself would be getting another complete head from the wreckers , my question is do you have to set the valves or camshasft to a certain position before you sit the head on the block,, like how do I make sure the timing is correct with the new head on. The engine is a 1.5L single cam.

Best advice is go out and spend a few $$$ and get the workshop manual. That should cover all the questions you might have.

You either make sure the head and bottom end are at TDC exactly and and put it on or if you want to be safe move the crank a few degrees back from TDC so there is no chance of any valves touching incase the cams arent exact postion then once head on get the cams on tdc and then do the crank.
