Hey guys,

I just wanted to ask a quick question about the R32s security system. hopefully one of you guys might be able to offer some advice.

My R32 when I bought it came with two things, my standard key and a remote keyless entry module (with the lock, unlock, alarm and silent buttons). Now the module used to sit on a keyring but since its plastic the outside clip broke and now I have to physically carry both my key and alarm wih me (and I know im going to loose the module eventuallt).

Does anyone know any companies who can make custom keys that combine the key itself along with the lock and unlockvbuttons from the remote keyless entry module? Much like the way most modern cars have them inbuilt into one large key.

It would be great if anyone knows a company or place who can integrate them.

Thanka guys!

CA model glue and a dremel your all set..haha sorry thats the redneck solution

you can setup a alam that is completely keyless, entry and starting but most installers wouldnt have a clue how to do that , only the best ones know how and it will cost a bucket load to do , or even with your iphone, andriod in your pocket now

your kinda vague, if you mean the key with the lock unlock buttons ? or a true alarm system ? sounds to me like a rubbish model that would be best replaced anyway and just use a normal key

those factory keyed/less system you talk of, cost a butt load to fix when the key fails, in a year or a day . hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on the car model. bentley comes to mind right off the bat, with a bad key issue.

hmmmm in sydney I would say chris rogers might know if someone with such skills , I know some shops but cant vouch for the skill set first hand. sorry

take a photo of hte remote. I dare say its a dealer upgrade.

Hey guys thanks for the info. I have attached a pic of both my key and my keyless entry unit. im sure the keyless entry unit is not genuine as I was under the impression no R32 came stock with an alarm system / keyless entry.

basically the unit just has unlock, lock, alarm test and alarm mute, besides supergluing them together, which while tempting is pretty bodgy. i dont really want to spend a fortune as the system still works, be great for any more input thanks guys!

Good to know its just some random security alarm.

Would you know roughly how much a nes security system may cost? Mine has the keyless entry / remote locking, door sensors and boot sensor and window sensors (as in if you try to put your arm inside when the w

indow is down the alarm sounds)would be great to get it all replaced :-)

thanks for the input guys!

best to look around sydney for a decent installer. forget shopping on price. hit up danielr34 on here (security in motion) as he's in sydney - I'm not.

    • For me at least the reason why it bothers me is because it's indicative of a deeper problem. And that will nag at me forever. Especially because I have tailpipe emissions testing + evap leak testing every 2 years.
    • WELP. I went to the track, and I suppose it went okay because any time you can drive home is okay. You may notice the car is not on the circuit in this picture. It was about 35C day out in Benalla which means the track was approximately the surface of the sun, probably. Good things, car did not overheat but it _was_ warmer than when I had done track days in similar heat before, I think, I'm not sure - I can't quite remember. Coolant got to ~105 via the ECU after 20-30 minutes of belting it in said heat. Oil got up to 145C in one instance which is pretty crazy due to oil cooler. Pressures were fine. I seem to remember this not getting quite so high before the vents. More HMMMM'ing to be done. On the subject of HMMM'ing, can anyone identify the sounds in the video below, you will know which ones I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj3BkI2cbTc I included some 'normal' sound as a reference for the first minute or so. The microphone in this instance was where the license plate is. It stopped working later in the day which is why my "best example of a lap video (not produced)" had internal audio - Isn't hearable from inside the car. I don't mean the chirping of the un-bedded/badly bedded track brakes which you can only hear while braking... Thoughts, brains trust?
    • blame old mate Hawkins for that one  I remember way back in the day the japanese didn't want them either... they always assumed a race shell would be thrashed. We found a few when looking for an R34 GTR for the Whites to drive in Targa Tas back in 2002.
    • I know it's probably not going to cause any major engine issues. I just had a more generic concern that it's technically not running right (I guess this means the rpm is not sitting where it technically should be) Though the other thing is, it's that my steering wheel is shaking at 1,100 rpm at idle until it gets warm (seemed to happen after I tightened my alternator belt, will be testing the alternator soon).
    • I mean, what's the concern here? Higher fuel consumption? FWIW my idle sits at around 800rpm or so as well. And yes, it runs fine, idles fine and there are no issues as far as I can tell. I don't quite see the problem.
