It would be very interesting to compare. Nitto's 3.2l kit costs a lot more than the spool 3.4 atm. Has anyone actually compared any of the spool products alongside the nitto items to compare quality and watnot?

yea thats what i was getting at... it probably comes from the same bread shop like 90% of the gear on the market

Apologies I thought you were unaware of the rb34 kit and had just noticed the rb32 kit.

Why would you choose the rb32 over the rb34? Cheaper? Rev higher?

I presume its cheaper. The longer the stroke the higher the piston speed at a given rpm so I guess the 32 is less stressed.

Well side by side won't tell you much other than the sizing/weight with things like rods etc.

Need to actually properly test it, install it, drive it etc.

Unfortunately there are little results around even after a bit of time :(

Totally understand where you're coming from but the cost of manufacturing a 91mm crank compared to a 94mm crank is so small it's not worth mentioning. I'd take a gamble and say the pricing will be the same as the 3.4 RRP. Any cheaper is ripping himself off, as long as it's cheaper than Nitto he shouldn't have a drama selling them

as r31nismoid said unless there is back to back comparission the only differences would be price,

i still am yet to personally see an rb34 spool kit, seen plenty of nitto r32 (probably as nitto is local in sydney and spool is qld i think)

though the customers have said they bought the 90mm stroke as they think the 95mm stroke would be an over stroke for their application,

which is along the lines of what r33_racer was saying, all depends on what the motor is going to be used for will depend on which crank is best

plus spool appear to use cp pistons

nitto use JE/SRP

(which the cp workers used to work at JE/SRP before starting their own company, so end of the day same piston quality)

in theroy the benifits/ differences i can notice other then the srokes;

nitto cranks have slight knife edging and the rods with big end oil squirters

spool cranks from what ive seen in pictures/ read are fully counter weighted aka gives the crank more throw (encourages it throw itself in the rotating directing)

I think it's more a case of there were a few NITTO strokers getting around early on. No doubt via reduced pricing for market penetration by a few places etc.

Yet the SPOOL RB34 results really haven't been seen anywhere or in at least volume of half a dozen type thing.

Understand the in-house goes first as you can't really sell something that's going to mince itself due to poor materials or something, but it's taking really long?

once again never seen a jun stroker crank, which after googling looks like a full counter weighted crank too (bout all i can tell)

seen a few normal 26 and N1 26 cranks, 2.8 HKS cranks, fair few nothing special rb30 cranks and nitto 3.2 cranks, would like to see more variety but all depends on our cutomers, plus once the machining is done most the time we rarely hear of any results

    • Registration and insurance can be problematic with engine swaps from dissimilar manufacturers, especially when throwing in a LS in the engine bay Can it be done for a "street car", sure, but every part of the build should be led by the automotive engineer who will be signing off on the project, so bring your bank account, that part gets it registered.......then there's the yearly insurance dance to consider, can it be insured, sure, but at what cost I would hazard to guess that building the RB would be a much simpler project without all the logistical headaches, and probably for alot less coin, for simular, if not more HSPRS 
    • About the same coin for LS3 and a 6 speed manual... However, needs more dollars spent making it fit... Probably about the amount of money that would be spent on new turbo, intercooler, ECU, tune, etc... I support stonking big V8s in Skylines...
    • Seems like an excellent reason to convert to something else entirely. Spending all that money to go forward by about 2% is hardly good business. Could get a very large V8 for less than that.
    • Well, yeah, you need to close that circuit, otherwise no start.
    • Yeah i know(now) I just wanted to ask. It maybe looks like i get my hands on RB25DET NEO for swap 🙂
