Not long to go now and some more news

We now have three owners of historic cars, who will be selling passenger rides in their cars during lunchtime at the nationals. The cars involved are the Gibson/Fury Bluebird, The Gibson/Gibson Exa and the Fury/Sheil DR30. After some small costs to be paid to the owners of the cars, the proceeds are all going to MS Australia. (Multiple Scelrosis). This is a really worthwhile charity, as so many young people suffer from this chronic incurable illness,

We are also looking for ideas on how best to market the selling of these rides.

Your input on both of the above is very much appreciated.

Couple of questions, when are the exact dates of this event as the thread seems to mentioned a few different dates. Is it the 7th and the 9th? And when is the actual airport run as I couldnt see it anywhere

You're a bit confused. No airport run for the Skyline Nationals, but there is one planned for the SAU Nationals.

The dates are the 7th to the 9th. 7th is sign in day, 8th is show and shine, 9th is track day at Wakefield. We are also haveing a farewell breakfast on the Monday morning (the 10th).

For more info and contact details go to www.skylinenationals.com.au

Cheers

Hi all

Are there still spots available for the track day? What is the max number of entrants? How many groups etc?

Thanks in advance

Scott

There are still spots, but Not many.

Maximum number of Entrance last time i checked was 70 cars.

Groups will be finalised in the next week or two

Price List for Hot Laps is now confirmed.

There will be 1 outlap, and at least 3 hot laps and 1 cool down. Two Laps with Jim Richards at Sandown cost $660.00, but you get lunch .

All proceeds from two of the cars go to MS Australia. A very worthy cause

All Proceeds from the DR30 will be shared between MS Australia and Luke Ellery's USA Bid.

The club is not making any money out of these rides.

Vehicles are:

1984 Nissan Bluebird Group C - Adam Workman Driving - 2 sessions at $300.00 each.

1983 Nissan Exa Group C - Justin Nillson Driving - 2 Sessions $300.00 each

1987 Nissan DR30 Skyline Group A - Luke Ellery Driving - 2 Session $300.00 Each.

There will also be a silent auction at the show and shine for these rides, as well as a listing on Ebay.

Full Video footage of your Hot Laps is also included in the drive.

Have also had several people asking for some info as to what will be getting looked at for the show and shine have prepared this

https://docs.google....c2pnRlpJcnFEMW8

have a read it will help anyone who is entering the Standard Category .

If you guys want i will put up a Version for the Modified Category

    • Yeah 4wd (boosted) has a recess in the firewall for the booster, and 2wd is flat - the example in the link shows the flat surface. When you deleted the booster, did you just attach the factory slave cylinder directly to the recess in the firewall with no adaption?
    • Yes, but no. You need to keep the mating surfaces bare (ie the flat faces where the caliper and upright pads touch the dogbone) and also the internal threads will remain bare (unless there are no internal threads - do they use nuts on all the bolts?). So you can slow down obvious external corrosion, but not all of it. Anodising would be required to provide decent protection to the alloy, but I'm not actually sure if you should anodise something that is all about the strength. Anodising does reduce strength significantly. Like, up to 50% on some alloys for high thickness coating.
    • Thanks   does painting on aluminium work or stop them from corroding?
    • 'Sgot nothing to do with them being Japanese. The climate in the north of Japan has similarities to the UK - the cars are made in the knowledge that they have snow and salt, and they rot there. Cars made in the US rot like buggery in the US. British cars have always rotted regardless of the weather. They will rot indoors in a climate controlled bubble! The brackets are not unsafe yet, but they will get that way. They may well corrode where the bolt threads are in contact and the bolts could just jump out without warning.
    • So unsafe would you say now?   little bit of has come off, guess road salt is a nightmare for Japanese car. Mx5 here have a well known issue or rotting
