Hi Guys,

Hypothetically, imagine 3 identical cars. Same colour, same mileage, same condtion etc etc .........

1 is a standard R32 GT-R, the other is a V Spec 1 and the third is a V Spec 2.

If the standard car is worth say $20,000 what are the V Spec 1 and V Spec 2 worth?

Curious to know what you guys think about the premium a V Spec may bring.

Thanks,

Bob.

I am guessing that you are talking about in original condition. A highly modified Vspec I or II loses it's appeal in my opinion. i am thinking a 2 - 5 grand premium over standard. I would think that in years to come the Vspec and other such models (NISMO, AUS spec and N1) will grow more in value compared to the standard GTR based on rarity. You just have to look at the older American muscle cars, GTHOs etc to see the premium they now demand over base models.

I'd pay 30-50% more for a vpsec 2 if I was looking to buy and keep. You can't beat the last of the line for a keeper.

I've seen an excellent condition silver vspec2 on a yard for a while $30k. I would take it except I'm after white.

Agree with Duncan, 30%-50% is not unreasonable.

The thing i've started noticing is that these cars are absolutely starting to skyrocket in Japan.

I know that doesn't mean they will def follow the same pattern here. But as the once kids who loved the GTR's giving it to all at Bathurst, become cashed up adults, they'll be able to afford the higher asking prices, driving up the value.

Here's a good example - white for you Dunc!

A few cosmetic mods, but looks great. Add compliance and maybe an alarm, and you're getting close to $50k!

4 years ago when i was looking at 32's, you would have struggled to find a V-Spec with an asking price over $22k-$25k

I brought my Vspec 1 a almost 1 year ago for $25500. Almost completely stock (with boost restrictor still fitted) beside the Nismo strut braces, Nismo 3 inch exhaust, N1/Group A side skirts and white Nismo center guage dials. 82k on the clock when I got it now has 88k was my daily car untill about 3 months ago. Now just sits in the shed hidden away and comes out once/twice a week to keep the battery charged, am going to buy a trickle charger in a couple of weeks

Up to 20% more.

Unlike stated above, I don't think the standard cars will stay that low.

In GOOD condition, standard cars are also starting to go up in price.

Oh, how I wish I could afford a neat stock 32....

  • 3 months later...

I will be looking at importing an r32 gtr vspec II within the next 6-12 months. I'm happy to pay double what a standard gtr goes for if it has log books, low km's & is untouched outside & inside, tell me I'm dreaming haha

Once I have that then a track car will come not too long after I hope ;)

I am still convinced that of the 1403 v spec iis built there are about 3000 left.. But on subject, I think any one wanting real money for these cars will probably have to send them back to Japan (GTHOs coming here from south Africa). In the long run it will push values up here but will make it harder to find someone to pay for them. Nismo and N1s will always be the ones to chase though
