if you were only racing yourself, there wouldn't be classes. And they'd only give each person their own times. :P

I only call them 'cheater slicks' because they're pretending to be a grooved tyre or semi when they really aren't. They're 98% of a slick.

Hmmmm, for those trying to compete for prizes it just could be important, I don't know, not me. Yeh and we all know that compared with targas sprints are small time, oh to be a big fish in a small pool.

:ermm: Why you felt the need for "targa" and "fish" references has me puzzled. I didn't realise you found me so abrasive. My apologies if I've somehow offended you Richard.

Well, in a sprint, would you agree that you really are only racing yourself? Or are we on a completely different page?

Sure, if there's someone you benchmark and would like to beat, then so be it. But I feel, to be handing out trophies for fastest 4, 6 and 8 cylinder cars on a sprint day I find completely pointless. It's pseudo competition and contrary to what a sprint day's mantra is, and that is non competetive timing.

To enter you need to pick a class, 25/30 with all the fruit puts me in SVD, yes there is a comp but Im no where near competitive, Ive only done 2 or 3 sprints that need legal street tyres to be in street class comp, (the SAU vs RENEW thingie)and even though the semis Ive used were street legal they said something about being to low with the UTQG and I was placed in club class.

All other sprints Ive done you could use whatever you want, unless it rains, then no slick till the track drys off.

Ive only been playing this game for a couple of years but dang its fun.

Last year I think I got about 10 points in the SSCC comp, LOL.

Geez, because you were so dismissive of cheating in sprints. For the millionth time, now there is an official competition with classes, rules and prizes. Ring a bell? Still keeping those beaut Lakeside laps you did on YouTube as a favourite though :P

It's important to remember that what Queenslanders call Sprints are quite different to southern states. Qld Sprints are traditionally non competetive times laps with cars in groups of similar pace for safety reasons.

Therefore, I see the two words "cheating" and "sprints" as an oxymoron.

And FWIW, my best time around Lakeside (that several of us here frequent), was achieved on R comps, not slicks. The slicks however, lasted longer, and were therefore more cost effective.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
