Rb26dett into the R33 gts4,

Car atm is in working condition, So engine will need to be taken out, And the new one droped in at bolted in.

Also have a 5 stud conversion needed to go on,

Have R33 GTR front hubs, 32GTR Front brakes and braided brake lines

Rear 33 GTSt hubs and brakes with braded lines.

Also have a loom but no clue on how to set that up or any other wiring.

Do you have much expericane with this type of thing? Shoot me a pm if you want.

Cheers

I may be able help you. I removed, re-built and installed an RB25DET into my HR31 3 years ago and am currently building an RB30/25 to go in. Haven't had any experience with an RB26 but they are pretty well all the same and I do have the full Nissan RB20/25/26 engine workshop manual, so that's all you need.

I also fitted different suspension, brakes and a 5 stud conversion on the HR using Commodore parts and stud pattern.

I live at Pymble just down the road from you. let me know if you would like me to drop over and have a chat.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm also a new skyline owner. I found this forum and have lurked it for about a week now and all you guys seem legit with advice and knowledge. I have a 93 R32 gtst rb20det. I am very keen to get it restored into a reasonabIe condition. I am a P plated driver and obviously cant drive a turbo vehicle. I'm just after some advice here because I didnt want to start a whole new thread. I have an rb25de neo sitting at home, I'm unsure if the engine is rwd or awd and it came with an auto gearbox. I'm wondering what kind of manual gearbox I will need. Will I need an rb25 neo gearbox? or can I use an rb25 gearbox? Is there a difference between them? Could I use an rb25 turbo gearbox? What kind of gearbox mounts will I need? Does anyone know where I can have the engine swap done with quality?

I do apologize for the novel of questions I just wrote but I really want the right advice from the right people and people who have knowledge in engine swaps as I'm no mechanic. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Can i buy the 25de intake + airbox?

hahn, you can use the stock 20det gearbox no worries, if you go turbo an 180rwkw plus id think about upgrading. basically any Rb series gearbox will fit. you will need custom mounts for 25 gearboxes.

but as i said jsut use the 20det box it will be fine.

The only problem with this is that putting a 25DE Neo into your 32 still counts as an engine mod (and is therefore not legal/roadworthy), even though you're decreasing the power. Sucks, I know.

(Just playing devil's advocate here, I appreciate that you're trying to do a good thing, eg. no turbo)

Putting a non turbo motor into the car doesn't, in the eyes of the law, change it from being a turbo car. You will need to do the conversion then have the car complied as a rb25 non turbo.

Sydking, if you need a hand(seems like alot of people offering their help), ill help out. I ripped out my motor and what not also put a few cars together(non RB's but the concept is the same). Also with the loom, if I recall correctly after stripping my car, you shouldn't have to rewire things, just replace the loom with the appropriate new loom. It controls everything in the engine bay. All other electricals(headlights, ac etc) are independant I believe but you will probably need to fiddle around with the fuse and relax box. The mechanical stuff is much easier than the electrical.

Is the 26 a direct drop in for your 25 awd crossmember? Are you doing to be taking your box and engine out as one piece and then putting them back in as one piece? Ill tell you its a pain in the f**kING ARSE to get the gearbox bolted back to the engine but its an another pain in the arse dismantling your car to be able to slide the engine and box out as one piece.

ive got the 26 loom to go in, Power FC most likely for the ECU, Yes the 26 is a straight drop in ( there will always be a few hicups) , Gearbox is not getting touched untill its broken, Jim berry clutch will be installed though.

Dont think there would be any reason for me to get rid of the air box, though if for some odd reason it dosent fit, you can buy it

Its all good now, I deceided to keep my skyline as is and keep it for a track car until I get my blacks, I didnt really want to castrate my ride. As for the time being I'm going to get all the bits n pieces I need to get some more reasonable power.

    • Photo of manifold showing gate location? I mean, it's 6Boost, so we probably shouldn't be worrying, but always wroth knowing what the layout is. Plumbed back to atmosphere? Or into the dump?
    • Yes correct. Also, I'd avoid applying it to soft paint (however I doubt you'll ever have to deal with it in practice). So any paint that hasn't fully hardened, could be a 1k paint that never fully hardened or it could be a 2k paint that was laid down thick and hasn't yet fully hardened.
    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
