Hi Every1,

I was at Xtreme Motorsports today and checked out a pearl white vspec II Nur. Number plates - "2 HYPO".

I have a question, do Nur's have a gold build plate? I was under the impression that they are gold, but the build plate on this one is silver.

The sales people were saying it was a Nur. I didnt want to raise the question, but im wondering if it is actually a Nur.

It did have the gold engine covers and a Nur badge on it. But if its a nur, the build plate Im sure should be gold.

I forgot to get the VIN so cannot run it through FAST. The car is priced between $75,000 - $80,000.

If anyone can please confirm the Nur build plate colour (silver / gold) that would give me a good starting point.

Thanx.

Hey mate,

Yes, they definitely have a gold build plate :)

Sounds a bit suss. Gold cam covers and the badge mean little these days in terms of the car's identity.

I would also definitely have it up on a hoist at a place you trust such as Japlink at Haberfield (about 5 mins away from Xtreme) and make sure the "24U" stamp is there on the engine block to signify it's the proper N1 block. That is, after you get the VIN and fast it

Let us know how you go - I'm interested to hear about this car.

Cheers

Matt

Thanks for the tips and confirmation guys.

Im pretty sure this is the car - http://www.skylinesa...l-white-4-sale/

The original owner sold it to the dealer around 1 year ago.

Car did look familiar, and I even did bring this exact car up today but the sales man said no - this particular one was bought from Melbourne approx 3 years ago.

So from what he's said - Im probably wrong, but the car specs and mods are freakishly similar. Its amazing what you can find on the internet.

Regardless whether this one is a Nur or not though - still very sexy and looked pretty clean too.

Your a lucky man to have found a clean genuine one Matt, hope you plan to hold on to it.

Just had a PM from the actual owner of the car.

Confirmed that the car is a vspec II with a Nur engine and alot of other upgrades too!

And it is not on the market but may be shortly. (Sales man I was talking to today had it confused it with another car).

All sorted and thanks again all for the clarification.

No worries. Hope you find a good one before long.

I hope this car won't actually be sold by the dealer as a Nür then??

This M-spec Nur has been on carsales for ages; does anyone know anything about it? The M.spec Nur badge seems to be in the wrong spot = rear-end respray?

The mspec comes from a11 1mports, every one of the bnr34s I looked at there were rubbish...

They have listed on there site an arriving black vspecii nur with 22k kms, that car was sold in japan with something like 168k kms.... Not cool. I would expect similar for the mspec nur... But you never know?...

badge on that M-spec does seem to be too far to the left... and the bumper does seem a diff colour

Kristian, what have you seen happen with the Nur prices over the years with the 35 been out now for a little while? Ever think the two shall meet? (price-wise)

Q. Would you guys like the Exec to maintain a "Blacklist" database of any cars which pop up with proof of tampering?

Tippy-toeing about what we say and what we can't on an open forum isn't going to prevent some poor sod being duped into paying top dollar for a car that's only worth half of its asking price.

Selling a car with a shady jigsaw puzzle (on ACA/TT) can reflect badly on...

* the car itself

* the cars we own

* the honest dealers and importers

* our club

Such a database might have...

* model that it's sold as

* VIN#

* the model which reflects that VIN

* Engine# with extra markings or lack of

* Odometer reading at a particular date

* Odometer reading at a later date

Such a database should not have...

* opinions about the state of the engine or running gear

* opinions about damage or rust

...since the onus here is upon the buyer and his/her brains trust = Caveat Emptor

A database would be a brilliant idea I think, a registry that would hold static data (VIN #, Engine #, colour, year, model number and spec) as well as 'dipstick' data at certain points in time (kilometres and rego plate e.g. "in 2009/04 it was sold with 242,000km with lic. plate "2SIK"). Would just need to be a plain Excel file, could be kept on Exec server and updated by one or a handful of SAU people.

Guys and girls interested in a specific car can ask the execs to query the database based on a parameter such as a licence plate, or VIN #; if the search returns no matches, bad luck, but otherwise it could save someone a lot of woe.

The database itself would remain confidential (and no addresses or owner details for the cars would necessarily be kept). Just those details for vehicles matching specific queries would be shared with the person making the enquiry.

The database could hold not only members' cars (cars we know have been owned by people on here) but also cars being sold by dealers. If one of us goes to inspect a car at a dealer without the real intention of purchasing (such as a "Nur"), gets the VIN #; it can be logged on the database for future record keeping.

Again, awesome idea.

I was at the yard you're talking about, for different reasons, a day before you were there.

They apparently have an M-spec coming in.

Saw the same car, questioned it.

NUR etc etc etc.

While I was waiting around, I had a good look at their cubes.. interesting Km's I must say for the price they were asking.

badge on that M-spec does seem to be too far to the left... and the bumper does seem a diff colour

In Japan, their prices met about half way through last year ;) Low km Nurs are fetching 5 million plus these days...
