Hi,

Today whilst out and about a careless Subaru driver whom i can only assume was playing with himself at the time, ran up the back of my car at a set of traffic lights. Which were red. And i was parked. Very clearly in the wrong. I did the usual, exchanged details, insurers, reported to police, etc (i have full comp, i don't take chances with my car).

Anyway, I have owned this car for 7 years. It's not the fastest Skyline out there, it isn't the prettiest, but it's mine. This isn't just a car to me. What i need is for someone in the know to just give me a quick opinion based on these photos, does it look like my car is repairable, or will it be written off? I'll be contacing my insurer in the morning (Elders- closed public holiday) and organising for their assessor to look at it but in the mean time the uncertainty is totally doing my head in. Any similar experiences or opinions from people in the industry would be so greatly appreciated, you really have no idea.

As you can see from the photos, the bootlid does not close, the tail lights (esp RH side) are pushed in, the bumper bar is pushed inwards, rear quarters are fine though. The bootlid appears okay so that should give an indication of how badly out of alignment everything else is.

Cheers,

Graham

It looks as if it can be repaired without too much fuss Graham.

* The Reo Bar behind the bumper bar will need to be replaced.

* The Bumper Bar may need replacing (but after it is, it's worth saving if the panelbeater puts it into a hot bath to enable the normal shape to come back if possible)

* The RR Light cluster needs to be replaced. God_speed has a spare (if it can't be sourced from Nissan Japan), but I forget whether it's R or L (from his previous R33 GT-R)(and that's if it's the same as your R33)

The hassle of inconvenience is frustrating.

Of course the Subie driver (being wrong) needs a :domokun:

Thats nothing like above said reo will have to be changed and rear bar either repair or another 2nd hand one probably better option and you will need to push the rear body out with a hydralic repair kit. Mine had similar damage but abit more and fixed it up in a couple of hours. Also boot lid might be deformed aswell have to check it.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the input! :D Feeling a bit more hopeful about it now. Like i said it's insured and all, but it isn't just a car to me, I'd hate to lose it so I *may* be stressing out just a bit over it.

Cool cool, thankyou! I may have been slightly irrational for a while there!

I must say also to his credit, Subie guy was easy to deal with, knew he was in the wrong and did all the right things. Still angry, but it's good there are still some honest (but clumsy) people out there.
