Hello there, I am currently looking at new tyre and wheel package for a 97 pulsar n 15, considering placing on her 15 X 6.5 rims, not sure what the offset of the rims are at this point in time, and was wondering what would be like the maximum tyre width that would fit on this car, If memory serves me right i think when i spoke to a tyre dealer they recommended 205 X 45 X 15?

As a general rule of thumb, for each 1" of wheel diameter you need to change 10 profile points. But then you are going wider as well, so you need to drop a few profile points again.

My calcs suggests that the equivalent rolling diameter in a 15" is a 185/55 or a 205/50 (anyone care to confirm/deny?). A 205/45x15 is too low a profile compared with what you have now.

the stock 15" tyre used on the SSS pulsars (i own one) are a 205/55/15.

offset on them is about 38mm from memory (would have to walk outside to do that and i'm too lazy).

if the car only has 14" wheels on it now then would i be correct in assuming that it isn't a SSS? if this is the case and it is only running the 1.6L motor then i wouldn't be asking what the widest tyre you can fit on those rims as that will slow the car down. the widest tyre you can put on there is a 225 or maybe even a 235. just stick with the 205 wide tyres.
