SHIRUBA_XXXIII
Hey guys, Looking to replace the stock solid Nissan rotors on my R33. I had my hopes set on a pair Project Mu CRD rotors, at $250~ a pair (I'm only looking for front) they were a perfect balance between cost and effectiveness, and ultimately suited my situation perfectly. I then found out they don't manufacture them for the R33, only the 32 and 34. Which was a little strange, but none the less broke my heart. So I've thought about going to Brembo's (GTR), but I already have about 2mm caliper clearance with my current rims, and cannot afford to purchase new rims just so my brakes fit. I've done a bit of looking around and seems my only other option are DBA, probably 4000's. If you guys know any other brands that make decent slotted rotors sub $400, I'd love to hear from you! Or if there is a spacer option to fix my clearance dilemma regarding fitting Brembo's, I'd also love to hear it. Thanks heaps guys. SHIRUBA_XXXIII
@GTSboy - If you just select front, instead of front and rear, its says they aren't available for that model, they only make the rears. @Steven - Have you used RDA before? Know anyone who has? I don't personally know anyone who has, so just thought it tread lightly. Got a Pulsar
Just finished doing my fronts just now! RDA Slotted Discs : From - performancecarpartsonline on Ebay. Mine cost me $486 Delivered for a full set of 4. RDA Extreme Pads : Same guys, $94 Delivered for a full set, Front & Rear. RDA7693S = Front (Slotted) RDA908S = Rear (Slotted) RDX1170SM = Front Pads (extreme) RDX1220SM = Rear Pads (extreme) Didn't cost too much. Good enough for my daily. Yep... as stated above^^^. RDA slotted on all 4 corners, 2 weeks new, much better than my old worn stocks. Much happiness. 3 months on... Still a vast improve on the old stockies. They (performancecarpartsonline) do front & rear sets also. GTSBoy
@GTSboy - If you just select front, instead of front and rear, its says they aren't available for that model, they only make the rears. Fair enough. I didn't turn on javascript for Project Mu's site and so that whole interface didn't work properly the first time I looked (and so I didn't see that they said not available). But here's an idea. Buy the ones for the R32 GTR, get them lightly machined (say 0.6mm total) and jam them into your calipers. Same diameter, just a bit thicker. GTRPSI
@Steven - Have you used RDA before? Know anyone who has? I don't personally know anyone who has, so just thought it tread lightly. I have RDA rotors on all my cars, all of them now run only RDA Slotted or Gold zinc dimple drilled and slotted rotors, our GTR runs them too with Red Stuff pads. i have rda's on my r33 gtst and think they're fantastic! I use my car for street so not too sure how they'd hold up on the track but I have heard good things. Our cars are pushed hard, my 21 year old test pilot son has had them glowing more than once, on one of my fords that did not have braided lines he pushed hard enough to burst a line, when replacing it the rotors had nice blue heat marks hinting to me how had he pushed it. Oh and those RDA rotors on Ebay.....thats me, PerformanceCarPartsOnline Must also mention, the original cross drilled rotors on our GTR started cracking after 5 3 lap time attack laps at Winton....... If anyone want s pics of RDA rotors with Red stuff pads after 30,000Km of hard driving, happy to put them up, no grooves, no lips, no fading, the rotors still look like the day i put them on. I also have pics of the same rotors with Bendix Ultimate pads on the wife car after 20,000Km, she drives like a granny and the rotors are ready for the bin, its not the rotors, its the aggressive pad compound that wears out the rotors.
