Can I Keep Using The Tires My Car Will Arrive To Aus With?

OK, so I live in Japan with my R33 and will be importing it to aus in a few months as a personal import.

Regarding tires, is it compulsary to change tires for compliance, or is it just the rule that tires must be DOT complaint?

I ask because the tires I have on the car already have DOT stamped onto the sidewall, so I wanna know if I can just keep the car on these when I register in Aus (or more accurately buy new ones here cheaply)

Please reply only if you have ACTUAL EXPERINCE with this! I appreciate the help, but hear-say and opinions mean nothing when it comes to stuff like this.

personal imports there is no requirement to change them unless they are not roadworthy condition for registration requirements. FACT that is if you are going to do personal import and NOT RAWS complied.
