Viscous Fan Wont Stop Going!

My thermo clutch fan has been running flat out since I put my engine back in, it used to work great and come on only when hot, but since it was out for 2 months lying face down its howling all the time, did lying it face down do something and/or why is it doing this? Thanks people

ive always been told not to lay them down as it f@#ks them, i just stand them up at the same angle as they sit on the motor

Pretty sure mine runs all the time. The clutch fan? Runs off the pulley off the water pump? Its got no electrical components and comes on by engine torque. Isn't it always on?

from what i understand they are always spinning while the engine is running, but not at full speed, the fan doesn't spin as fast as the engine is running. Once the engine gets hot, they also heat up and then the clutch doesn't slip anymore and they spin at the same speed the engine is, providing maximum airflow to cool the engine down.
