I've been thinking for a while about removing my single DIN DVD player and single DIN factory gauge pods and replacing them both with a nice 2DIN headunit.

Basics I need are simple, and covered by about everything on the market, so I'm not worried about that.

But as I'm about to setup my HKS Fcon V Pro, I was looking at getting a HKS CAMP2, and the interface cable into the Fcon to use the extra sensors I've already got for that, and display the CAMP2 data on the headunit screen.

The issue I've got is I'd like to be able to pass a second video source out to the other screens I've got in the car. This might be my TV tuner, DVD, anything.

The Clarion I've got in the car at the moment has the TV tuner connected to its input, and my three screens (factory and two headrest) are run out of the one output on the back into a video distribution block.

Most of what I'm talking about is easy - but is there a headunit that will let me have one input on the headunit screen, and a different input on the other screens? Has anyone got this setup?

Thanks!

I do even the cheap ebay double dins can do it

I can see up to 4 different video inputs, from anything pal or ntsc and output to at least 4 different screens from my video amp switcher and I can also say see my iphone music on the lower screen , while the satnav is on the top screen on the dashtop. even without the switcher in use.

so I can have two dvd sources, two cameras, gps output just on the deck alone with one screen , then add the switcher and you can go nuts , since each screen has a remote to select the video input independant of each other . , they have like a ipod wheel with led to control it , about the size of a 50cent piece

Alpine sells one and mine is the knock off from Alpine, same case etc just not the logo..haha and cost a fraction of the Alpine.

you can do just about anything with some fiddling and a good installer

iphone/pod can do most of your functions without the sensors, anything the ecu can see just about the pod can use , then you can output the pod to video sources , lots cheaper and in some cases more detailed info then the HKS old way

Sounds good Troy. I guess I could be overcomplicating, but how does the deck determine the audio source?

Ideally I'd like to play DVDs, CDs, TV, etc, with the input being displayed on the external screens and the audio being outputted to the speakers, while the headunit screen displays the CAMP2 input.

The only other issue with this setup I can see is the CAMP2 input will probably require the video block to be unlocked, so I'll need something that is easy to unlock.

I don't really want anything too fancy. Found the JVC KW-AVX846NAV today that seems decently priced for what it is (can be had locally for ~$1k - http://www.ryda.com.au/JVC-KW-AVX846NAV-In-Dash-Nav-DVD-Player-p/kwavx846nav.htm), and includes DVD, GPS, Bluetooth, iPod, etc.

Which one are you running Troy?

Unfortunately the M35 is notorious for not conforming to most of the standards required by those ECU reading apps, but it does work with CAMP2 and Informeter. Main reason for CAMP2 is I've already bought a MAP sensor and temp sensor - I also want oil pressure, better off running it all through either Fcon or CAMP2 than getting a standalone sensor for Informeter. Although by the time I get my act together CAMP3 will probably be out...

Troy, do you mind sharing a bit more info about your setup?

I came up with a couple of different options to achieve this today. It seems like most decks have one rear input, one rear camera input, and possibly one front input (which I don't want to use - want it all on the back).

So my options are connect the TV tuner to the head unit, and...

1. CAMP2 to the camera input on the headunit (assuming the headunit can be setup to allow this), and the reverse camera into the TV tuner input switched using a +12V from the reverse lights.

2. CAMP2 to the TV tuner input switched via the TV tuner remote, and the reverse camera into the head unit as standard.

3. CAMP2 and reverse camera into some kind of switcher, which is then connected to the camera input on the headunit. Switcher could be theoretically rigged up to switch when the car was put into reverse, and I could run a switch to tell the HU to display the feed out of the switcher.

Followed up on new 2DIN headunits today. Local dealer shitcanned the JVC, so that got struck off the list. Also suggested it didn't have enough inputs, even though a look through the manual made me think it did.

Currently leaning towards the Blaupunkt New York 800. Not 100% on the design, but functionally looks awesome, great value, every feature I want, and a great price. I look at the Blau and don't really understand where the price difference is with other solutions. Although the Alpine looks like, on paper, it'd have a lot better audio quality.

take a look at something like this, you can imput everything into it and output to your screens as desired , this one is different from mine but its also newer , but works the same

you need to find out what video out the hks uses, PAL, SECAM, NTSC etc

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling, etc
    • @dbm7 and @GTSBoy thank you both very much! will give that a shot!
