hey all,

they've arrived but there's been a slight issue with fitment which i am working to get rectified asap.

they don't fit using the standard end plates so i've asked the supplier to send me the end plates that come with it to suit the copy wings (which judging by photos they are thinner than OEM) so hopefully this will resolve the issue.

You can fit it without using end plates but theres a 2-3mm~ gap on each end and i believe the end plates allow adjusatbility of the blade? i dont know this for sure as my wing is a fibreglass copy and doesn't have this function.

if the end plates he send does not fit, then worst case scenario is to get a alloy metal plate made up for you guys and i will seek part compensation from the supplier to cover the costs of the end plates.

The other altenative is you can shave off a few mm off the carbon blade so you can reuse the original end plates but you will need different bolts (the carbon blade is threaded for a 8mm size bolt, standard i believe is a 11-12mm)

Sorry about the delay guys, im working as quickly as i can to get this issue fixed and the blades sent to you guys ASAP.

Cheers

PICS OF R34 GTR CARBON WING BLADE

it usually comes together with the GTR carbon wing but the manufacturer is splitting them up for the group buy

keyyp5.jpg

Those after market end caps look like they wont work with oem wings. Look at the shape of the above end caps, they are very rounded and suited for the aftermarket copy wing.

Now take a look below at the shape of my oem end caps, they are a different shape all together.

wingbladeend.jpg

Also those aftermarket wing blade ends, the bolts stick out of the end and they require painting. ( also same if you get alloy plates made up, the blade isnt going to be adjustable and we have to then pay prob a minimum of $50 to get them painted)....

Any pics etc of whats involved for shaving it, to get it to fit......

Just a bit annoyed because I specifically asked this question back in feb, to make sure there wasnt going to be any issues what so ever with getting this blade and having it fit nicely with oem end caps, which was extremely important to me. Atm myself and many others here have spent $125 plus postage for an item that we cant use or without a fair extra cost for painting etc and were told would fit with oem end caps.

I understand that this has happened outside of your control and I appreciate you chasing this up for us. However, if we need to use after market mounting hardware/bolts etc contrary to what we were told in February this would be a deal breaker for me.

Having said that, if you got confirmation in writing from the manufacturer that it will fit with standard end caps, you should be able to return them for a full refund, no further questions asked.

Just to clarify to help Elvis out a little bit.

I was the first to try and fit the blade after receiving it, it is NOT the exterior end plates that you guys see in the pictures that is the problem.

But if this is what is being sent over, i'm not sure.

The "Spacer/plates" that are a problem are the ones inside, which allow the adjustment of the plates.

On either side of the wing blade, there is a metal plate(spacer) that attaches to the main part of the wing.

The carbon blade is too wide/long and doesn't fit using the original plates.

I took pictures and send them to Elvis when I had troubles (See below).

He has been helpful and has chased the matter up with the company.

However, he received a reply from them saying that they have never had problems.

So naturally I didn't want my money wasted on a useless piece of carbon. There would be enough clearance (haven't measured), if the "spacers" you see in the pictures were remade with a thinner piece of aluminium or some sort of metal, it will fit.

edit: Just looking at the spacers in the photo, it would need to be quite thin to fit. See how we go for now.

I stopped pursuing this when I heard new plates were coming. But can pick it up if necessary.

Pictures and the problem:

Note - I did actually have my wing completely apart (Had the carbon stands as well - needs drilling and new screws/nuts/bolts as well :( ), but took photos after I had put it back together.

I actually had to find alternative screws due to the threaded one being smaller for the "spacer" and blade.

Thanks for clearing that up Simon!

that's what i was told mate, like i said, i am working to get it rectified with thinner end plates so hold your horses and wait until i have a solution, otherwise if it does not fit, i will seek a refund from the supplier as he advise it would fit with standard end plates, and you can have your $125 and off you go.

I understand PewPew, but please see my response above, the supplier is sending his version of the end plates, which i can only assume its a copy of the OEM but thinner to fit due to the longer length of the blade.

i was advised it would fit standard end plates/caps so i will raise this issue ONCE i receive his version of the end plates and find that it does not fit.

Will keep you guys posted.

sorry for the delays. everyone else has received their parts except 75coupe, he hasn't responded.

Dori,

Any chance you could get a measurement of the blades from end-to-end? If Lyndon or Dan decide they don't want theirs due to needing aftermarket mounting plates then I would be quite happy to pick up their order, I'm using a copy GTR wing so don't mind if I need aftermarket parts :)

Pending your discussions with the supplier of course, I just wanted to get in before any other fellow scavengers

please put up some pics Dom,

i fitted one to a R34 GTR and it was perfect.

the item can take a bit of flex for it to fit as it is in the nature of the part to be slightly flexed.warp esp with thin items like the exhaust shield. sikaflex/tigerbond would've surely been strong enough to make it stick.

Han, ill get the measurements soon but its only a few MM longer than the standard on (not including end plates) see pics attached :) will keep you in mind, cause ill be doing the same minor mod to get it to fit as well and refunding everyone else if it comes to that stage.

Do you know the exact measurement? Just for science sake, I'd like to measure my wing blade and see how they compare? And no problem man, thanks. I can understand not wanting to use aftermarket parts on a genuine GTR wing, but mine's a copy so couldn't care less :D

Hi SonnyQ,

Thanks for the pictures mate, nice way to dress up the engine bay!

UPDATE on the R34 OEM WING BLADES

Ok, the supplier has confirmed that their wings dont use the standard end plates as they've been modified so they are longer and dont use the end plates, but as pictures show, it is stil a few mm shorter. i've raised the issue where he stated that it would use the standard end plates.

So unfortunately it looks like it will have to be sent back for a refund.

Now, whoever wants to still receive it, i can do so at a reduced price.

If you want a refund, just let me know via PM.

I will need to send the wing blades back to China and get the refund back into my account.

I am so sorry for this delay and stuff around due to manufacturers error. Such a shame as it was the most popular item amongst the GB as well.

I hope the next one goes much smoother which i see it should as every other product was fine apart from the wing blade.

hanaldo; sorry mate, didnt get a chance to measure the blade for you, i will get it shortly. but i will try and fit it to my car as well, will probably use some washers to fill the gap.

it will only be 3 blades being sent back. you guys all paid deposit ($65 and will be getting this back) except Simon & sinistar who paid the full amount + postage (i will give back your full paid amount + abit of the shipping).

i will be keeping mine, and hanaldo will possibly be buying one.

it may be possible to even fit it without the end plates, so if anyone is happy to keep these, i can give it to you at a discount price. please let me know if this is the case.

Scott (75Coupe) i advise you to get your wing blade ASAP and try fit it, incase there are any issues i can return it as well.

Thanks.
