fastjetjockey
I'm coming up on my 2nd oil change on my stockish 34. I've used Royal Purple in all changes, in all cars prior. But I would like to give Gulf Western Syn X 6000 or Motul 8100 X-Cess a go. Cheapest I've found for what you are interested in are... Royal Purple HPS: $70/5 quarts (4.73L) from performanceclub.com Motul 8100 X-Cess: $75.99/5L from justjap.co EDIT: Also, just stumbled across this; If you're a member of RACQ, you get 20% off prices store-wide in Repco until the end of February. So go get some stuff. Or get your mum to. lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/390332-royal-purple-hps-vs-motul-8100-x-cess/page/2/#findComment-6227822 Share on other sites

bigkevracer
If you run Motul, my local Repco is clearing it out and replacing it with Gulf Western. Not sure if its the other stores too? I've noticed no difference between the Valvoline semi synth I was using and the Motul 300v I dropped in at the last change. I have one more change worth of 300v then I'll be trying the new Gulf Western Syn X 6000, as by then I should be on e85. cherring
Yeah, that's pretty crazy, I've only done a few hundred ks on this oil change so plenty of time to order it and get it shipped in, at least a few months until I need it. Nanogrip
Is it standard practice to run thicker oils in high kms turbo engines? I have valve ticking with straight 40w (no winter weather here) so I might switch back to 30w unless there is something I am missing. Nanogrip
It ticks while cold, goes away at operating temperature in a few minutes. No knocking (thank goodness). A lot of the guys here in the forums use 40w while I have been using 30w for almost all of my cars so I am wondering if I should stick with 40w. Thanks ================================================================== On the topic Maybe stick with the cheaper one of the two? Both are great oils and with regular oil change, there won't much difference between the two I think tbh.
