to cut a long story short.. i've ended up with r33 gtr front bar indicators for free after an ebay seller advertised them for an r33 gtst... probably should have done a bit more research but shit happens

my car currently has a hacked up r33 gtr front bar from the previous owner and by the look of it has, hacked up the wiring to be compatible with the lights in the front bar.. whoever did it has done a bit of dodgy electrical tape around them but they work..

so basically.. i bought them to put into my 400r front bar (the round indicators are a perfect fit) my question is.. can these be wired to work in my car? I was told it cant be done but then i was thinking, how are the standard gtr lights currently in the front bar able work?

if it helps these are what are in the front bar at the moment

Ok this is coming from a person that had a 400R front bar on a R33 and then bought the exact same genuine clear Nismo indicator lights as replacement for the crappy orange ones that came with the 400R front bar originally.

To answer your question, yes they will fit but if you have a replica 400R (I had a genuine one) then most likely there won't be groves on the wholes for you to twist them in properly, so you will have to apply some force and then add some type of adhesive to ensure the lights don't fall out when you're driving. In terms of the connector wiring - GTR's came with two connecting plugs that looks a bit rectangular which splugs flush to the above replacement lights as the enclosure has a male-to-female connecting point. However, if you bought the above lights from Nissan, it won't come with this connector piece so you will have to do the following to make it work...

1) Depending on what wiring you already have on the car, you will need to cut the existing connector peace that is brown in colour and rectangular in shape and add a positive / earth connector piece to it

2) Buy yourself some LED flasher globes

3) Then you will notice that you indicators will flash really fast as the voltage is wrong - you will then need to buy a new flasher can and replace it. There is one on Ebay for around $15 from the US. It took me nearly 6 months to fix this stupid problem and I went on EBay and came across this flasher can by change so you effectively you will have LED flasher globes in the above light enclosures. They still work fine but you will need to put some waterproof tape around the connection points to ensure it does not slip off. Works fine after that.

Good luck mate.

Cheers for the info Munky

Yep they didnt come with a connector piece.

This is how its wired at the moment.. Sorry for the shit pics but i dont really know what im looking at.. i can see 1 brown rectangular connector and then just another wire going into it.. (i just cant work out how it then is flashing normally?)

Hi mate, just to clarify, so it is NOT flashing at all at the moment as the connector piece has nothing to connect to from the globe's side, right? If it is working then ignore everything as you've managed to get it to work.

However, if it is not, then you will have to do one of two things...

1) Find another female connector piece for the side belong to the new Nismo globes you bought. I have no idea where you can get one. Try to the Sales thread on SAU and look at wrecks or try contacting Nissan spare parts. I doubt you will find the other bit.

2) You will need to cut the male connector piece from the wiring side and go to autobarn or an electrical store and buy a flat x4 (2 for the wiring side and 2 for the globe side) and run LED flasher globes on each side.

If it already works fine then you're really lucky as you seem to have genuine wiring, connector pieces and globes. Don't worry about just 1 one wiring; usually 1 is for the positive flow and another is for earth or negative otherwise known as - the genuine connector piece should be the positive and negative combined if I'm not mistaken as it is connected to the car and therefore is earthed.

Let me know how you go.

Good luck.

Cheers again munky - ill take the front bar off over the weekend to see what kind of mess its in.. Yep the indicators flash normally at the moment

Hi mate, if they work and are flashing normally then do not do anything - just add the globes into the provided indicator slots at the front of the 400R bar - if they don't have any screw grooves, I suggest you stick them down with some glue or something as one of mine fell out and as you know they're not cheap to replace.

Good luck mate.
