hey guys.

this has run through my head a bit, and i dont know if it would technically work.

i have 2 r32/33gtr rb26 turbos, and 2 r34gtt turbos, i have been playing around with them and just wanted to know if the front wheel and housing is too large to throw onto the rb26 turbos.

the r34 comp wheel fits on the rb26 turbos and so does the housing.

the rb26 rear housing is .48 correct? and the r34 front is .54? waste of time or try it and see how it goes?

only problem is if i do try it, one of the r34 rb25 turbos is plastic wheel and the other one is a steel wheel, two different versions of the rb25.

If you are even considering this, I suggest that you never touch a turbo again, and let a mechanic do any work from now and on.

Haha bit harsh nothing wrong with playing turbos just be prepared to break them or fork out for s engine build. I did it broke every turbo haha but that was on a 20 so 400 to replace

hmmm, indeed. i just wanted to know how it would work out. i have no problems re building stuff or modding close to anything. i guess if you pump in more air than you can flow out, it might become a bottleneck.... i should have really thought about that before posting this.

A turbo spins at up to 150,000 rpm. Do you think rebuilding it yourself is a good idea with regards to balancing, etc.

Plus is it worth the risk destroying a rb26 just to save a couple of hundred and "experiment" on things that garret has already spent millions on doing?

There are plenty of tested and proven turbos in the dyno results thread.

I've also got a pair of genuine HKS 2530s for sale that have about 5,000kms on them. Rear housings are HPC'd too. Lol.

nah, all good. no trouble there. its a forum for a reason :D yeah i know turbos spin that fast, its being rebuilt with the n1 internals, so i was wondering if i could use the front end of the rb25's. either way, no point. if the frnt flows more than the rear can handle, not to mention hot air after combustion expands even more. i swear to god i had a blonde moment........ *facepalm*

Good to keep the brain active.

And its by doing some stupid experiments that some weird and wonderful creations pop up.

If you have the time, and parts, give it a try.

I don't think Nissan designed the 300zx airflow meters for the 26, but what do you know, a small wiring mod, and they work.

If you do try it eventually, good luck, and keep us posted.
