Well, the rules are QLD only (why the hell don't we have a national transportation department anyway...) so it'd be Bligh, not Gillard. But yeah, apparently the only 2 vehicles effected by the change from 200 to 210kw is the SV6 commodore and some lotus. Seems pretty likely that it was "help us sell more cars"

oh...goes to show how much i know about the P plate rules......i thought it was a nation wide thing? so holden are really clutching at straws if thats the case.

Why shouldnt he be allowed to drive it? hes got the money and and has worked hard for it why shouldnt he be able to drive whatever he wants, you telling me if your were 18 and had millions you wouldnt go buy whatever you want and drive it? money is power and it always will be and if your lucky enough to have heaps of it make the most of it.

Lol this guys watched to many movies......

QLD isn't the only state to have P plate restrictions though. other states have the same restrictions. QLD wasn't even the first to have them (3rd i think).

as for the holden thing, i think it was the government showing a bit of sense. the commodore was only just outside the restrictions, yet is a common family car. i'm sure that had nissan been selling a car with as much market share as the commodore then they could've convinced the government to alter the rules. either way, i think you will see the rules change in the future as well as cars change.

for the people who are saying that he has money and should be able to buy whatever he wants, yeah sure. he can buy whatever he wants. what he can't do though is drive it illegally and then have an epic sook when he gets busted doing the wrong thing. as someone else had said, if i was in hit situation i would've just dealt with it and moved on.

Yes i know that the other states have their own rules, what i was trying to point out is that the QLD rules are separate from each other states rules.

And yes, while its a common car, i still think that a SV6 commodore is to fast for a P plater to drive. Its probably about as fast as a r32gtr.

because it's the law... he has money, but that doens't mean he is above the law.

If he chooses to drive the car then fine... he just needs to take it like a man when he gets caught.

would you say he should also be allowed to rape and kill because he has money?

Thats why this countrys gov is #ucked. In NZ he would be driving that thing all day with no dramas legit. You can own what you want when you want from was the age of 16. until last year now 18. (because of under aged clubbing and alcohol not driving reasons)

I think this country's rules and regulations are all bull and people are suffering because of them and not just the p platers but people of all ages with all kinds of sports cars.

Yes he should be setting an example and prob shouldn't of been driving it no different to any other p plater. but either way i still blame the useless government as much as tomic.

p platers are shit drivers... end of story. they only think they are good drivers.

there is a reason you are not allowed to drive a high powered car on your p's... think about it.

there is a lot more to driving a car on public roads than being a good steerer... and it takes years to learn. at the age of 32 I am a much better driver than I was at 25, and at 25 I was much better than i was at 18.

I wrote off my first car at 18, and i can assure you, if my first car was the 320rwkw rwd car i drive now i wouldn't be here to tell you this.

Your a Douchebag , jealous sucker

Im not jealous of them, i'm sure they worked extremely hard for what they have, especially lleyton, look at that guys's determination... he nearly loses every match he plays, and rely's on his mental skill to get over the line. i'm sure he had to work like a dog to get what he has... but that doesn't mean he is not a douchebag...

and tomic.... what a gigantic crybaby.. how can anyone think he is NOT a douche?

look at pat rafter for example, i have no ill feelings towards him, as he has not committed any public douchebaggery that I am aware of.

This made me laugh so damn hard lol.

And who cares, he earned his money, he can do what he likes. Get caught, his problem, why do we care?

because he made it everyone else's problem when he refused to stop for police, ran to daddy and then tried to accuse the police of discrimination on the ground of him not being born in Australia...

dunno about that. the quickest time i've seen for a 210kw sv6 (stock) was in the mid/high 14's. the majority of drivers would be getting high 14's to low 15's, which is noticably slower than a stock GTR, let alone one that's had a few minor mods.

He should just move to a euro country, make it his primary residence, get a licence there. Come back with an international licence and buy a Lamborghini. Unlimited points.

or just get a fake UK/EURO licence and put on an accent when pulled over for 20 over?

seriously would this work?

It failed to sell:

Negotiations continue for the sale of tennis ace Bernard Tomic's infamous orange BMW after the highest bid of $146,000 failed to meet reserve at an auction in Brisbane today.

Pickles Auctions prestige vehicle account manager David Luckman said the sale of the high performance car was watched by more than 100 online bidders plus a packed auction room, but failed to meet the reserve that was “not as high as $200,000”.

wow....internet fame not turning in to $$$$? Who would have thought.

Haha love your work Ham

Lmao... My dad has a VE and I drove it around Sydney. They are a quick car for a big unit, but they aren't dangerously fast by any means. I'm a p plater, this may come off as arrogant but I've done over 350,000 clicks since I've had my licence and I think I'm a better drive than a lot of people on the road (I don't sit up people's asses and do stupid shit), I'm still a p plater though, and unless you were an absolute douche, there's no car out there that is street legal that would automatically cause you to have a crash in, if driven sensibly. I am off my p's in a few days, I am so glad to kiss them goodbye. I've never lost my licence, but I believe p platers have a pretty unfair time for 3 years.

Everyone has to go through 3 years of pain. To be honest i dont think P platers should be able to drive anything remotely fast.

Thinking you are a lot better than you actually in anything in life let alone controlling a vehicle is a dangerous thing.

There are too many arrogant little punk turds these days that think they are above the law.

hmm... 19y.o. in a bright orange M3 with a UK/Euro license and a heavy accent.

Asking for a drug search?

im not saying it would work for someone like Tomic but just an average looking joe in an import registered to a 'mate'

rack up 10k in speeding fines before one day switching to a new licence and accent, profit?

as for his car not selling, yeah saw that on the new. They tried to interview his father who turned up in bright orange shirt to match the cars lurid paint scheme and all he could do was garble something barely intelligible about how many camera's were there..

a bit like some of my posts.

Why a fake license ? He was born in Europe so i assume he could get dual citizenship quite easy and get a real license. Back when the 3 years P system was introduced in NSW some guys i knew had family in QLD so they thought they would just get a licence there and skip the whole green Ps stage.

There are too many f**kwits that think P platers are incapable just because they haven't been on the road for decades, especially when some P platers drive hundreds of KM each day. A hell of a lot of "seasoned" drivers have become complacent and some were shit to begin with. I've ridden motocross all my life and it has taught me to recognise my limits and only push them in a safe environment. To be honest, I think I should be able to drive whatever the f**k I want whilst on my P's, I don't because a licence is a privilege and I don't want to lose it. Has the P plate road toll declined since the introduction of power restrictions? No. Has a falcon, commodore, daihatsu charade etc got the ability to kill if driven like an idiot? Yes. I know boosted cars are easier to get into shit in, but if someone is going to be a big enough knob to get into enough trouble to kill themselves or someone else in a boosted car on a public road, they're gunna do it in a P plate legal vehicle, too.

Exactly they may as well just ban high power cars for everyone unless its for work. I think that would be the only fair thing to do, only allow turbo diesel utes. Then when there are enough quick charge points and electric cars on the market ban internal combustion engines all together and limit power on electric cars like the tesla or ban it all together. Enough people have died on our roads it's time for the only logical answer.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!)
