Jesus f**king titty christ stop taking everything as a personal slight against you. You are awesome man. We get it. And nobody can tell you different. The unfortunate thing for you is that you're in an age group that is less mature and does stupid shit more often. Get over it, embrace it. Go out and do some stupid shit because you only get to do it so long while people will just write it off as an age thing.

The fact that you can't understand the thought process behind the p plate laws tells me you're too self centred and immature to operate outside of them. Congrats you're just like every other 17-23 yo. The laws are there to stop the majority of f**kwits driving cars they can't handle, the laws aren't there just to spite you or any other p plater that feels hard done by. Its 3 f**kin years just deal with it.

It is personal when someone generalises every young driver and says they are shithouse. I don't really give a rats ass about P plate laws, I've dealt with them and I get my opens on Tuesday, haven't lost my ticket or anything. It shits me ever so slightly that some prick can drive an M3 on his P's because he has cash. It shits me more that a dickhead on this forum and most other car forums thinks that no one apart from them can drive a car with any sort of competence and age directly correlates with someones ability to judge risks.

I understand that the law is there to protect a bunch of idiots, all I'm saying is not every P plater is a high risk driver. I never said we should all be driving 10 second cars that will decimate all once we overnight parts from Japan. I said I wouldn't have minded having a turbo car on my P's, well I actually said "I think I should be able to drive whatever the f**k I want on my P's", but I didn't because I was compliant with the law (although I never really whinged too much about it, because we all have to go through it nowadays anyway). I asked someone to produce statistics stating that the P plate death toll has decreased at all since the introduction of these restrictions and I got heated because madbunguphisasswithanarrayofopinionsrangingfromchauvinistictoeverythinginbetween is a f**kwit that thinks everyone younger than him can't operate a vehicle.

I've done my time on P plates successfully, without becoming a statistic and so have millions of others. There are more P platers and young drivers added to the road every single day, so they would make up a HUGE percentage of our driving population, the under 30 age group of drivers has to be greater than other demographics, because it is expanding. Granted, the road toll for young people is probably slightly higher than people over 40, but I'd say that has more to do with there being more 17-30 year olds on the road then there is 40 + year olds.

There's no direct correlation between age and being a dumb flamin mongrel. I'm still waiting for someone to show me the figures indicating P plate deaths have decreased since the introduction of power restrictions.

I bet tons of you guys had skylines and other quick cars when you were young, if you're reading this you're still alive, so congrats!

Age is a massive factor when talking about the ability to judge risk. We have not had time to come to terms with our own mortality yet. We all think we will live forever and bad stuff only happens to other people. That's human nature and is especially present in younger people. Older people have had more life experience and are generally more risk averse. That's just the way things are. You might not feel that's true for you but we are talking in generalisations so there is little point trying to relate everything to your situation. It's more about how this affects the group demographic rather than the statistical anomalies

2008 Road Tolls

Below link shows that in 2008 the male 17-25 demographic had the largest contribution to the road toll. Not sure how much this has changed, can't be arsed finding a newer study but I would guess that the numbers haven't changed significantly. Stupid people will kill themselves no matter what and accidents happen. There won't be any significant drop in the road toll until the government introduces more stringent licensing requirements etc. That won't happen because it's too expensive so we'll have to make do with the bandaid solution that we have now. Shit happens.

Tomic is a whiny little bitch btw.

I love those driving shows where they take male drivers aged 18-23 or whatever and get them to complete the same basic tasks as several other groups and repeatedly demonstrate that that age bracket is clearly the worst drivers and the most at risk :). I haven't forgotten all my opinions from when I was that age, I just don't agree with any of them any more :D.

You're full of shit. I've just turned 20 and I don't overtake on blind corners, when there's oncoming traffic, speed through built up areas or do whatever else an idiot does. It has nothing to do with age whatsoever, it's the person behind the wheel. I shake my head constantly at ALL forms of drivers, from P platers to old people and everyone in between. The amount of risks I see people taking each day on the road is unbelievable.

You know why I don't take risks? Because I value my licence and don't feel like winding up wrapped around a tree or next to a locust on a Peterbilts grill.

Your opinion proves that you're nothing more than a stunted malformed nublet with a cock that has receded into his body and eyes that aren't fit to navigate the road, due to old age. f**k up you imbecile, seriously. Your opinions are so bullshit.

I guarantee during day to day driving I am as competent and safe as anyone on this forum. I am also onto it when it comes to avoiding accidents, I've had tons of idiots nearly kill themselves and I on the Bruce Highway. When you drive on a stretch of road like that every day for years, you become an alert, competent and safe driver. I've had someone try and steal my rims and my wheel has fallen off at 110 clicks with no room to move and oncoming traffic, I hit the hazards and pulled over smoothly. Plenty of drivers would have freaked the f**k out and crashed. I had semi's on one side and a 30 foot drop into the abyss on the other. I know how to handle shit safely on the road and I don't drive like a f**king imbecile. Pull your f**king head in and stop thinking anyone younger than you is a dumbass.

I hope a middle aged bloke smacks into your car while he isn't paying attention. I bet if it happened though, you'd concoct some story about how a P plater took you out while overtaking on a bridge which also happened to be on the crest of a hill  I also hope your incontinent bowel causes you to shit throughout the interior of every car you drive.

Good day, phaggot!

Good enough, seems beezlebub already slapped you.

That angry tirade you probably claim as a rant, it really exposed you........... dumbass.

I bet, i wonder, I guess, go back to your hypothetical world and stfu until what you've written sounds as stupid to you as it does everyone else.

Whatever mate. There are idiots in every age group.

At 20 years old the frontal lobe isn't fully developed.

The Frontal Lobe is responsible for the ability to recognise future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad actions (or better and best), override and suppress unacceptable social responses, and determine similarities and differences between things or events. Therefore, it is involved in higher mental functions.

Therefore, no matter how much of a totally awesome driver you think are because you've managed to not write off a car....yet...your brain isn't developed enough to consider the ramifications of your actions fully which therefore leads to increased risk taking behaviour. When that risk taking behaviour has the potential to kill and maim people other than yourself, the Government has a fundamental responsibility to try and avoid such a situation occurring. Some rules they make in seeking to achieve this are good (such as no HP cars for P platers) and some are bad (such as draconian speeding laws and enforcement).

Having no idea how I actually got through my late teens and early 20s without killing myself and a couple other people in a car smash, I agree with the ban on high powered cars for young people, especially men (young men have lots of testosterone). I was allowed a high powered car, but fortunately went for something which handled instead (2L powered Datsun 1600). Had I have had a seriously powered car, I would be dead, without fail.

So basic physiology supports a ban on high powered cars for young men, pure and simple, as do I.

Well said, frustrating as it is you can explain that in 1000 different ways to some of these guys ... It makes no difference.

Added to your point: all laws are created to account for the lowest denominator not to any individual.

Welcome to the merri-go-round Cowboy where teens are unfairly persecuted and nothing is ever their fault, hang around... you'll be able to cut and paste that post in at least 2 threads per month.

Don't forget that if you hang around long enough you'll be able to shake your cane at all the youngun's as well :P

On topic, Tomic is a spoilt brat. Good on him for working hard at his craft to make big bucks so young but it sure does seem he let it all go to his head.

*Slowly turns head, shakes wrinkled old fist.... berjiggitty young fella..... berjiggitty!

Last years 17-25 year old road toll in Vic was down 34% on 2007 (the year the high powered ban was introduced).

In the same time the overall road toll decreased by 14% in the same period.

While this doesn't prove that the ban has worked, one could easily conclude it's had some positive effect on the road toll.

For those screaming that P Platers shouldn't have high powered cars maybe you should consider the statistics that "More than 45 per cent of hoon offenders are full licensed drivers, with probationary drivers making up 38 per cent of offenders."

Hoon Laws

While I do agree with the blanket rule purely because there are the complete morons amongst the younger age group that ruin it for all and that's the way it has to be. It's hardly fair to say yeah ALL younger people are shit drivers and thus you're all morons and think you're top shit, grow up. At the end of the day I can go just as fast in a Commodore or Corolla as I can in a Skyline, and guess what, I'll keep driving my Skyline problem free because I've been in accidents before and don't take stupid risks anymore.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!)
