Hey guys,

Looking at getting some of these late in the year, JDMconcept told me that this customer had the 18x9.0 +30 and 18x10 +38 but weren't sure on tyre size. Is the owner on here or anybody know what he would be running?

Looks like a 245/40 front and 265/35 rear

might be 255 rear but 265 should fit easy, could even probably work a half to full degree positive camber if you’re making some power to put to ground.

always best to check clearance to your suspension as that will be the deciding factor

I bought that specific set couple months ago for my 34. The tyres I went with where 235/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear. Easily could go 265 on rear. I will say I dont think the offset is aggressive enough though. If I could go back I would get a more aggressive offset for the rear.

Agreed but I believe it is a fairly safe size if you want to mount fat tyres

the white r34 is probably running spacers.

to get that flush finish with some tyre stretch it’s best to use a 9.5 wide wheel with +15-20 offset. You can make a 235 stretch nicely and still fit a 255 at the back. Seems to be a fairly common size amongst most brands

Cheers, wanting as flush as possible but dont want to draw attention with them sitting outside the guards. Just went through 6 months of defect/engineering because the last wheels were too phat haha.

they were 9.5+15 all round and had 235's on them. 

Making ~305kw at the wheels so want some rubber on the back but doesn't have to be crazy.

I have managed to fit 265's all round on 18x9 +30's on all 4. There's a ton of room for more rubber at the back, I have something like 35mm of inside clearance. Fronts are pretty tight, in a "Yeah you'll need to get it rolled/yeah you'd better think about relocating the loom under the driver side fender" kind of thing.

I used to have 18x9.5 +27 with a 265 there too, unsure as to which setup went through the plastic. Maybe both did, and maybe a 255/35/18 is a better idea on the front ?

Yeah I've read that there is heaps of room up the back.

I just want to make sure the wheels will be flush if im dropping 2k+ on them haha, after scouring through forums all over the place I thought these were the answer. Guess Ill keep looking.

So im looking at getting rota p45f for the fronts and p45r2 for the rears, but i really don't know much about the offset choices, hopefully someone can help.

 

I am looking at getting the following rim and tyre sizes:

18x8.5 front with 245/40/18

18x9.5 rear with 265/35/18

The rota website only offers +28 offset for the fronts and either +12 +20 or +35 for the rears. I have bc br coilovers and i am lowered to the maximum legal height in Victoria. I'd like my wheels to sit just slightly inside the guards, not outside, as i use this car for track days. 

Would +28 for the fronts and +35 for the rears be ideal?

 

 

Yes.

The front will tuck 1mm more than a 9+30, rear will be +1mm pokey vs a 9+30, but people run 10+38 on the rear all the time (with is +4mm of poke in the same example vs 9+30)

They will fit. You will likely need to roll guards in order to fit them depending on how much tyre you want on said rims.

This is a square set of 18x9.5j wide +20 offset.

235 tyre front, 255 tyre rear. 
rolled guards, no camber

It will sit 2.5mm out more than the photos I posted above with the bronze work xt7’s

below is a couple more pics of my sedan with 18x9.5j +20 fronts, 235/40 tyre

18x10.5j +25 rears, 275/35 tyre.

as you can see the tyre is poking out a bit too much at the rears and caused scrubbing which resulted in me getting 2 degrees negative camber as opposed to 255/35 tyres which would be a better solution and also match the stretch on the front

If you have a widebody, sure.

Both will sit out about 15-20mm from the guard.

I avoided getting the 10 inch rear because I wasn't comfortable risking having to roll my guards so I got a square setup of 18x9 +30 and put an extra 5mm slip on hub centric spacer on the rear

I reckon it needs just about 2mm more on the rear to be perfect

My tyres are square too at 245/40/18

Hopefully one of these pictures gives you an idea of fitment

That is bizarre. I have 18x9 +30 and I need rolls to clear..

Also the rear on the 34 pokes out more than the front. At least it does with the Sedan, perhaps the coupe IS different!

(I have 265 tyres on all 4)

I'm at 340mm rear eyebrow height with no camber arms maybe that might have something to do with it?

Nope, my car is higher than yours too, and I have only -1.5 deg camber at the back - It could be tyres in my case.

Its worth mentioning that the rear pokes a good 10mm more than the front, for the same fitment which I found suprising! I could take pictures of how it sits, mind you its been out in the weather for a month now ?

Strange as the fronts definitely poked more from the guards when I was running 9.5j +20 square set up on my sedan. Pics above with the xt7’s should confirm.

must be difference in coil overs?

    • The 1000ccs are side feeds but they're not currently installed, had my old factory ones in for leak testing purposes, only decided on them because front facing plenums and good top feed rail kits are out of my budget at the moment, are they really that problematic? Had a set of yellow jackets that lasted me 5 years, no real issues, only replaced them chasing this misfire issue that ended up not being ignition related 😄  
    • Are those 1000cc side feeds? If so, that's part of your problem. I have 1480cc and they idle at stoich on 98RON, and all the way to E85. Also your coil packs.....
    • Update for the sake of closure   Ended up getting the intercooler piping all sorted, new plugs and yellow jacket coils, and she was idling mint until it warmed up while I was bleeding the cooling system. Found the misfire to be localised to cyl 3 by unplugging coilpacks, ran a compression test, that checked out, then decided to get a mate to check if that spark plug was firing out of the motor. Upon cranking it over, with the injectors disconnected, the car actually fired and ran on a couple cylinders and heaps of fuel came out the top of cyl 3 I'd say that injector's either spraying incorrectly or spraying far too much, which is fine as I'm planning on replacing them anyway I'm planning on making about 250kW on flex fuel, and have a set of 1000cc injectors from ozautosport, obviously overkill but I'm planning on building the motor and running more boost further down the line, do you reckon they'd be too big for a smooth idle on 98? Thanks for the replies gents, much appreciated
    • I'm confused. You said you want to "remove the clear coat from most panels" but it sounds like you are actually doing a full respray? Few random things to add -  If you chase the blistered paint with 120 grit, I can almost guarantee you'll chase it down to bare metal (that's fine). But if you paint the car from here, you'll have nice little indents where ever the blistered paint was. The new paint won't magically level out the low areas, you need to fill them. Which leads me to the main point I wanted to add, make sure the whole car is flat before you paint it. All those areas with blistered paint you sanded out, make sure to fill them and triple check they are flat with a block guide coat. I'd also check the whole car is flat with a large block and guide coat but yeah up to you if you want to go that far.
