A light has recently started flashing when my engine is turned on. I largely ignored it before because it never lit up. It's obviously a mod, since that's a sticker on it, and it's also not in the owners manual. It's located on my dash, just below the steering wheel. Any ideas on what it may be? The car was owned by someone in Japan before me.

Nah there are no buttons or anything around it whatsoever.

Also, it's never lit up before, but now flashes constantly when I drive. I don't think it's a proximity sensor.

its the rotator splint!

actually its probably one of those positive or negative ion generator thingos in the AC. or some sort of filter that needs cleaning.

That would be your in-cabin micro filter (for the aircon). It's located behind the glove-box. Pretty sure it means you're due for a change / clean (if it's non-disposable).

my v has an ionic air purifier as standard, but i don't have one of those lights.

Well if some fad following Japanese dude had one added after the fact, might explain everything.

I have this light also, i think its for the cabin air filter when it flashes means it needs to be changed, its located behind the glovebox if the light is just above ur left knee i think this is what it is.

Yup, it's exactly above my left knee.

Does yours have the oh so professional, half-peeling off sticker too?

+1 for the cabin filter idea. the diagram looks like a typical 'filter' symbol.

replace or clean the filter and see if it goes away??

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Wayback machine archived page from May, 2000: https://web.archive.org/web/20000529061027/http://www.emotion-r.co.jp/skyline.html Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ And finally here's Google streetview of the Emorion R garage in 2023 which is amazingly not only still there, but the showroom is still full of various parts in stock and funishings, etc.: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ttyEAZdZLyzermyT9 Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
