Hi Every1,

I have recently been shopping around for a replacement polisher. Today i was at bunnings and saw the Ryobi EAG1518RG grinder / sander / polisher kit.

I bought one (as there was only one left) but have kept the receipt incase it is not suitable. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The specs are here - http://www.ryobi.com...nders/EAG1518RG

The other one that they had there was the Ryobi ERO750RG, but it was branded as a 'sander' and had the bag attachment.

The specs are here - http://www.ryobi.com...anders/ERO750RG

I have also been looking at the Bosch Gex150T, but they are so much more expensive. I dont understand why yet, but there must be a reason?

The specs are here - http://www.justtools.com.au/prod2219.htm

Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts from the pros as always, are much appreciated.

Cheers.

Look at the past 3 threads in the past week all on the same topic, look at my posts on the Concours 900 and kit take in to consideration WAXIT also sponsor YOUR FORUM the SUPPORTS YOU.

This topic has been done to death like seriously.

Hello,

Have seen those posts. I dont really want order one off the internet. If i can, I'd rather go and buy one locally.

Also never heard of the Concours brand (probably because im a n00b), but for the money I would prefer a brand name like Bosch, Ryobi or Makita.

Cheers.

You CANNOT get quality detailing products and equiptment in general retail stores I dont care what the 16 year old school kid working their says. I am a professional detailer and have given you the best and most accurate advice you could ever start with, what you decide to do with that is not my problem but I can guarantee if you follow it you will be impressed.

If you spent 5 years reading constantly trialling and learning new products methods and equiptment you would be thinking the same thing.

It seems as though you have your mind set on what you want so why ask for an oppinion (and get one from a knowledgable person) to shrug it off as a meh. Just go buy what you want as you wont listen all you want to hear it.

"Oh yea that one you bought is good that ok use that" so there you have it :)

No need to arc up guys - I totally understand that you want to see and buy a physical product - there is a sydney retailer that sells a similar deal to the one on Waxit in Melbourne

Car care products - 4 Harris Rd, Five Dock, NSW

Also nothing wrong with the ryobi you bought, plenty of juice for effective swirl removal and with adjustable RPM its a decent unit - another advantage with that one is u can easily take it back if it goes pear-shaped

And to be honest there's not a whole lot of info on those concourse random orbitals - as most of them are re-branded generic tools, meguiars used to do a rebranded DA-6 polisher also, it may have eluded me but i cant find any info on these tools besides whats given on the detailing websites, stuff like country of origin and what not

I think the difference with the Bosch product is that it is part of their professional range of tools hence attracting a higher price tag, whether you need to pay that extra for just applying polish (not sanding) is questionable but alot of people have also used the bosch with success and swear by it.

IMO if you're gna fork out 400~ for the bosch spend up and go for a Festool random orbital - they seem to be the bees knees in this department

hope that helps

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the info. Appreciate that you also understand its nice to be able to see a product in person before you buy it.

Cheers also for the info on the Rryobi that i purchased. The extended warranty - etc was a sales point to me aswell.

As im new to all this (and am enjoying it all), so understand that some of my posts may come across as a tad 'dumb', but I couldnt find any exact direction on the comparison of the products I mentioned - hence why I asked.

Not looking to tread on anyones toes, just trying to learn. I appreciate you taking a step back and providing the required advice and direction.

Cheers.

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?

    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
