Lot of detractors in these parts regarding V8 Supercars. So I wonder with Nissan back in Australia's premiere local tin top series are people going to tune in?

What will be real interesting is who partners with Nissan next season. I hope they go with a proven performer like Rogers Motorsport, or Kelly Racing. Hopefully this will sew the seed for a one or two other manufacturers getting behind teams. That was one of the most telling things about the V8 Superstars round I watched last year. You had V8 Maseratis, Mercedes, BMW, Chryslers, Jags...the previous season you had Porsche with the Panemera.

It will be quite interesting to see who jumps on board and suddenly takes an interest because as everyone knows it will be the same dna underneath just a different body shell.

So either you already watch it and quite enjoy it for what it is, or you hate it and nissan joining shouldnt change that.

Exactly, it's all the same shit underneath.

Control V8 and control suspension. Just a different lid on it.

Still shithouse

Just quoting this for when all the die hard Nissan fans who are stuck in 1992 come in and start going how Nissan is going to shit all over Holden and Ford.

As mlr said though, I watch because race car. I watch any racing.

Have to agree with Nismoid. V8 Supercars are so boring. Same shit every time. Although I will tune in a couple of time when the new manufacturers are running, hopefully it may spice it up a bit.

Nissan is going to stomp all over Holden and Ford, Just look back to '92 :P

I AGREE , boring format unless your a little kid , interest died for me a long time ago when they brought controlled racing in

Why is it boring? It is generally good racing. My only gripe is that I dont really like any of the current crop of drivers. Lowndes is popular with most people, but I simply don't like many of the current crop of drivers. So its hard for me to get behind any particular team/driver.

Racing is racing is racing...I will watch just about anything race so I am easily pleased :)

I agree Troy, too many people are caught up on and blinded by the holden vs ford thing to enjoy the racing.

Then you have events like the bathurst 12hr in a couple of weeks...some of the best sports cars in the world yet they cant even get tv coverage!

I see plenty of people bagging out the v8supercars but how many of you get out to tracks and support other categories that arent televised...

I find it boring because all the cars are the same, it's always the same drivers doing the same thing, I dunno, that makes no sense but to me somehow V8SC's bore me..

Benm, I agree I definitely would be keen to watch Bathurst 12hr if they televised it, and as for getting out and supporting the scene... I'm in the market for a new clutch can not wait to get on the track for the first time..

I watch V8SC because occasionaly those guys run out talent and have awesome stacks...

This.

But I generally tune into watch the Street races, always enjoy them.

Good to finally see some other manufacture too.

the cars has to be based off a production car, does it not? so what are nissan entering?

Don't think its been decided yet, or announced at least.

A question mark remains over what car Nissan will use for its V8 Supercar entry. It has outlined plans to replace its Maxima – a car that straddles the medium and large passenger car categories – with the similarly sized Altima in 2013.

Although the Altima is not currently available with a V8 engine, it is thought to be the frontrunner for Nissan’s Kelly Racing entry

The above is a guess at best. There's supposed to be an official announcement tomorrow so maybe it will be revealed then.

    • I've been building a 26/30 for a few years now. I've had the head built with all the good stuff. I had a 32 gtr but blew it up and yes its all going into a vl but im looking for some advice from some RB nuts on pros and cons on putting a 26 head on a 30 bottom end is it worth it Works are as follows Head -Extensive porting 1mm oversized supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech valve guides Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters Tomei 270 x 10.25 cams Head drain Bottom end series 2 rb30 block Cp ceramic coated pistons Eagle rods Romac balancer Oil restrictions  O ringed blah blah spent a fortune And will get a girdle because the 30s arent used to handling that much rpm Nitto billet oil pump Hypertune plenum 6boost mani Refurbed astra pump thats the cover for it in the boot I did have a precision 6262 but sold it because drag car life. Currently building the ass end full 4 link floater rear end with a 2 speed  But the dilemma i have is my mate rekens I should just stick with the 30 head for reliability. Has any one had any issues with mounting the 26 head ie compression blowing gaskets etc. Just looking for some advice from people who have gone down this route. Here's some photos. Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.

    • lol no cats running str pipes … might put the high flow back on but I suspect it might effect my ignition timing a bit.
    • That looks a bit like yellowing to me. If the rear bar was looking like that from rich idle, I'd ask the question, do you have a catalytic converter fitted, and fully working?
    • Oh yeah gets really bad down here. I’ll have to upgrade the heater and wind screen wipers as well for optimal performance.
