Hi Guys,

Wasnt going to do this but the problem has got out of control.

What would you do if you ordered something from Japan through a wrecker for somebody else who knew nothing more than it was a Trust TD06-20g turbo kit (I mean it came with Trust Td06-20g turbo and a manifold which had been adapted to fit the turbo so it would bolt straight up. i.e Kit?)

A customer paid $2400 for the kit (which included 1week warrenty once in Australia), which was done all via email while in Japan, they asked me if any turbo kit was available for a MR2. Which I then found in a option magazine in Japan for sale and purchased it. I asked them if they wanted it sent to them direct or to me and I would look after customers and pay the duties. They asked for me to do the dirty work. Which i DIDNT charge for, as $2400 included the 5% + 10% tax I had to then pay.

Once arriving to Australia, I contacted the person to tell them it was here. I continued to contact them for a period of 6months but during this time they told me they wanted me to sell it for them without them even seeing the kit, They were told I wasnt going to do that. And to pick it up ASAP!.

In the end they finally came to pick it up and when they did they said the manifold wasnt TRUST but an adapted manifold to suit the turbo, as well as that they told me the turbo was stuffed. But they would have had warrenty and option for full refund back 6months ago.

Now I have received threats etc etc...saying I ripped them off and i told them it was this and that...

what would you do? give them there money back? or leave it as they were the ones who were too lazy to pick it up and left it too late. I have tried to see if i could get there money back in Japan. with no reply, as they gave me 1week once here..not 6months.

My solution was to offer to go 1/2's in a full rebuild of the turbo. As they claim that is broken, which I know is definally, well was definally not the case.

Please help?

Tough situation Judd - While I understand your supplier may have assured you it was in proper working order, the bottom line is 6 months later or not, someone paid for parts in working order. If the goods purchased dont meet the condition as described by you as the seller at the time of pickup, then you are obligated to either give them their money back or meet the cost of the repair.

From the sounds of it, its not your fault. You may have been supplied incorrect information about the condition of the turbo by Reckless which you have passed onto the customer in good faith.

Sounds like your between a rock and a hard place. I assume it would be very difficult trying to get any sort of refund from a Japanese supplier.

Threats from this other individual arent cool - but as much as I hate to say it it sounds like you are going to have to cover the bill. Offering to cover 50% of the repair bill sounds adequate to me.

Best of luck

if they threaten you, threaten them bak and tell them youll kill someone close to them, that usualy works for me.

dont say that, another twist to the story is that it was actually a forum member here. (not well known) who got this kit for a friend of his who is apparently gang related, and actually has threatened me with this, i have never spoken to the intended buyer only his middleman (forum member) who does the negociating. I have tried numerous times to ask for the direct ph# with no luck...

which would put the blaim on whom...not me..but looks like i will be the one who cop's the most of it...

Thanks for the reply, thats what I said, but apon offering 50% of the repair bill to the turbo, they then found another fault saying the Manifold is not TRUST and want a full refund. One corner follows another.. It will be never ending where do i stop.

And I cant afford to give them there money back.unless the Japanese supplier would be willing to take it back..which they wont as it has been well overdue...but at the end of the day it all bolts up and WAS in full working condition when the good were received.. I would understand a full refund should be available if i was a company but im not, merely a individual who was trying to help...

no it was described as Trust Td06-20g turbo Kit.

when you buy a kit...i think they took it as being trust everything..

the manifold has been adapted i dont know by who but with trust adapter plates etc.

Just like Trust do for most of there products i.e Connecting Rods...are made by carillo but they in fact balance them and do some further R&D and sell them as Trust...

Gang related? MR2? hahah what kinda gang is that :D Fairy princess gang by the sounds of it.

If hes going to threaten you over this then dont give the guy shit all, its his problem. If he cant negotiate without having to threaten you then he's an ****ing idiot and should recieve nothing.

NO OFFENSE TO MR2 DRIVERS OF COURSE!!! ;)

judd - it sounds like they havent really given you a chance to rectify the problem. My suggestion would be to take it and get a quote on repairing it, by someone you know or trust, not someone they have suggested. Altho, it seems like it has gone beyond this now.

Also, if a forum member has threatened you I suggest you pass on the details to the police with email correspondence etc. Also may as well post their username as we dont really want people like that here.

Thanks for the advice Dave, now that its not the turbo (as they were told by a someone else that there is a risk in buying 2ndhand turbos which is 100% true, but in this case as there was warrenty to be given so there was nothing to worry about). They are saying cause i quoted it was a Trust Td06 kit it should have come with a Trust manifold.
