Boys and Girls,

I will potentially be getting one of these (http://www.r2cperformance.com/-infiniti-g37-cold-air-intake.aspx) in the near future, just need one last conversation with the missus, if you know what I mean.

If you read about them on the myg37 forum, the consensus seems to be Stillen G3 for the Cold Air Intake or these for a Short Ram. I don't want to a) Cut bits of the car apart and b) spend massive $$$ on an intake that will really just make the car a little louder, so I have decided to go with the R2C. Was looking at a standard K&N Typhoon as well as they are a little cheaper, but prefer the black colour and also the additional heat shielding on the R2C.

Anyway, I have found 2 places that will do a good deal, less than retail and including delivery to Aus which would normally be another $80 or so. If anyone else is possibly interested, let me know and if I can throw a little extra business their way, we may be able to get the price down even further.

They do a single intake for the V35 as well, obviously a lot cheaper as it is a single, so if any V35 owners are looking at getting something I can enquire about these as well.

Let me know, I will be making my final decision this weekend and then ordering soon after that.

If no one is interested, well then you can all get f&%ked and I will post pics once I have it in.

Cheers

Al

I personally bought a Takeda Cold Air Intake, sits behind the front grille nicely. Noticed it seems a bit more beefy/responsive and a little louder at the 3500-5000RPM range, overall I'm very happy with it. Was around $400 delivered from the US around 3 months ago (inc. delivery). I have some photos at home to post of the install (taken with my old phone), will attempt to post some proper photos later if I get the chance.

Has anyone actually done back to back testing on any of these intakes? I would be surprised if there was any real gains over the stock airboxes. Dyno figures are just too easy to fudge anyway.

I like the look of the Takeda, and at least it sits in a cold air high pressure zone.

Yeah exactly why I bought it, the position is right in the middle of the front grille, so it gets a very good flow of air coming in (it's basically ideal). Also makes the car look more sinister from the front with the midnight grille on the front.

Had a spare few minutes so I took a couple pics of the Takeda CAI on my 36:

(sorry to hijack thread Al, but I recommend it, plus it's cheaper and looks better and does the same job)

I will need to confirm that with the US seller Shiva. R2C website is down right now for some reason but a pic is available here http://www.tunerzsto...ndex.php?p=1_86 Is basically the same as the G37 intakes but you only need one.

My guess will be that it will be around retail price, if the R2C website was working I could tell you what that was, but including shipping which would normally be another $50+ for the G35 and $80-100 for the G37.

I will ask the question tonight and hopefully have an answer in the morning. Let me know ASAP if you are actually keen because I was planning on ordering mine tonight but will hold off if you are really interested.

As for the Takeda intake mentioned above, I have read good and bad things about it. The price is definitely right but from what I have been reading, if you want the best CAI then go the Stillen G3 and if you want the best SRI go R2C. They are the only two that seem to be backed up by multiple dyno runs. If you dont want to spend the crazy $600-700+ for the Stillen, then go the Takeda as it is far cheaper and definitely does have some good reviews.

EDIT: R2C site is working again. http://www.r2cperfor...ke-systems.aspx

RRP is $269 - 299 depending on the look you want. So based on the price I have been quoted for the G37 intake, you would be looking at around those $$ and possibly a little less, but it would include delivery.

Shiva, let me know if you want me to bother asking for the exact price as I really want to get mine ordered ASAP.

Ok.

"Single intake setup would be $310 for polished & $345 for black nickel." <--- This is for the v35 single intake

"Price for black powder is $465 shipped and black nickel would be $515 shipped." <---- This is for the v36 dual intakes.

Delivery is apparently the same price no matter where in Australia you are located. I am ordering mine tonight but if anyone else is interested I can pass on the details of the guy that I am getting it from.

Al, any chance of getting a price on just the filter from the V35/Z33 CAI kit?

I don't need the piping and filter box (it is to go on the Nismo R-tune piping)

Do like that Takeda design for V36, but it would be better with an R2C filter/s on there.

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
