[1990 R31]

Hi, Just new to this car so I would like some help.

Got a Skyline R31 1990 auto I don't know how many gears this thing is meant to have but i've counted 5 in different times and so have my friends. I was told it's a 4 speed auto, so now I'm starting to think where the hell is this extra gear coming from. It has over-drive and the selector says 1-2-D and with over-drive it makes 4, but still get a 5th gear. Anyone.

Probably just the torque convertor locking up...

I thought that but would the tacho drop from 2500 to 2000rpm

Would it do that at any speed cause it only changes when I hit 90km/h.

It definetly sounds like convertor lock up... Probably doesn't do it if your hard up it at 90km/h?

I'm pretty certain your R31 doesn't have a 5 speed auto either way...

R31 aussie one is 4 speed.. so i think they are the same.

ignore the 1 and 2, they're not "gears" as such.. they are more like low range and high range
