19,000 is bargine price, new engine would be rnd 6,000 fully good GTR for 25,000 and a 1993 December model at that. Durno why its so hard to sell......

I got a quote to replace the engine. $2k to pull the old engine out and another $2k to put a replacement engine in. Can you get it done cheaper where you are?

There is a R33 Vspec motor going for ~$6k on the forums so your right on the money there.

Sounds a tad pricey. We R and R a GTR engine for $1K over here if you supply a complete engine.

$2k to remove an engine? WTF

You are being screwed

Sorry, I had to comment

You also have to realise that when you put a new engine in the car, even if it cost you $7,000 in total, you can probably get $2,000-$3,000 for selling bits of the old engine. IE turbos, head, injectors, stock dumps, ECU, the list goes on......

    • 1. Factory knock sensors for now, honestly the RB26 OEM knock sensors seem ok as they're flat response instead of resonant type but they appear to be internally grounded to the block. If I do replace the sensor it would just be to get ones that are not internally grounded so a differential input can be used to reject common mode noise. Definitely plan on fixing this as a part of the tuning process. 2. Never deliberately induced knock, though I guess I could try that experiment if I really wanted to. 3. All of this is basically on a stock engine + ECU, only modification is HKS GTIII-SS turbos and a Nismo plenum. Currently I run it with the wastegate solenoid unplugged so it won't try to raise boost past wastegate pressure.
